What do you want the Rockets organization to do this off-season?

Add a ball handler.

 

Evaluate Amen, Sengun, and Reed. Don't spend resources to move FVV and DFS contracts. Try to make trades for a star. Most likely when that doesn't happen, go into season without making a major move with waiting to trade deadline to decide to jam with Amen and Sengun or break up the young core.

Get rid of the role player power forward position and replace it with 2 way guards that can do everything.

 

Add to the coaching staff.

 

If it were me...

1) Replace Stone with someone more personnel savvy... he can stay on as lead counsel but not decision making...
2) Require Ime to get an offensive assistant... or he gets replaced...
3) Nothing is off the table in the pursuit of improving the roster... gotta take a shot or two... minor upgrades aint gonna cut it...

 

Of the options listed, I'd like to see KD traded. I'm ambivalent about Fred. My dream is for Ime to be replaced by a young, smart, aggressive coach. Borrego or Splitter, for example. And for the love of God, quit giving out extensions before they're warranted.

Move Capela and Adams.

Resign FVV after he declines the $25m option to a 3/45 deal and trade his ass at the deadline.

Hopefully DFS player better to start the season - if so trade his ass at the deadline, if not decline his option for next year and let him expire.

Go young.

Take on bad contracts for future picks.

Be a 30-35 win team, 6th to 10th worst record.

Find your star in the draft.

Move on to phase 2 we're not a developmental team anymore.

 

I went with "other." My ideal situation already knowing that Stone/Ime aren't going anywhere would be firstly what someone said about forcing Ime to get an offensive coordinator, that's actually priority number 1 alongside real player development coaches. Then I guess I'm mostly open to moving absolutely anybody if it got us a high pick in this next draft, but not all of them - it needs to be reasonable not entire rebuild from scratch. I'd prefer to move KD or Sengun as the priority 2 players just because I hate KD's lack of chemistry and I think Alpi's the other piece we have that's actually got value to bring something back. I'd happily let Tari move for future draft assets if we need them rather than extend him to big money, and I'd try and get Amen on the cheap rather than selling the farm.

 

Radical, BUT some of your suggestions have merit. I would like to see a new coach for sure, and I want KD gone.

 

A team with Jabari, half season of FVV, half season of DFS, and ??? will not win 30-35 games. Might not win 15. That wouldn't be on to phase 2, it would be back to starting from scratch.

 

This team is riddled with forwards that can't dribble, shoot, or defend.

 

Was just looking at some rumors regarding Evan Mobley. Saying Cavs need wings defenders that can shoot and that was exposed against the Knicks. Plus they are already approaching the 2nd apron and they are about to pay harden and Mitchell (extension)

Maybe we can pull something like this off:

• Cavs get: Tari Eason (S&T, ~$20M starting) + Cameron Johnson + draft assets (one of next year's picks suns or nets ).

• Rockets get: Evan Mobley.

• Nuggets get: Dorian Finney-Smith + Josh Okogie (or similar filler) + unprotected Rockets 1sts (e.g., 2028/2030) + possibly more seconds/cash.

There is also rumors nuggets will likely trade Johnson because of salary issues and having to resign Peyton Watrson and think he is restricted. They get DFS expiring and potential to rebound and be a lot of what Cam Johnson was plus some picks

Honestly been racking my brain and I think if we are willing to cough up the picks we could make a deal like that work.

Trade KD for good young player (s) and picks.

Trade Alperen for good young player (s) and picks.

Ship FVV and his contract out in a deal.

 

Cleveland would want more.

Mobley will cost a lot more than that, but I would love to get him. Best way is a 3 team trade with Sengun and/or KD going out and Mobley coming in. Tari has to be traded separately in a sign and trade situation. He cannot be aggregated with other players (I think it doesn’t matter if it is our own players or from another team, could be wrong on that). I doubt Mobley is available, but if he is he would be ideal for the Rockets, but Cleveland is a poor match for Sengun. If we could move Sengun somewhere else and KD and picks for Mobley it would be ideal. We need to get Amen surrounded by shooters and a stretch center. Mobley solves a lot of problems for us, Amen and Reed.
