    Manny,

A handball is a judgement call UNLESS it directly stops the ball from going in the goal.

This handball stopped the ball from going in, penalty kick USA....too bad the ref missed it.

But you remember how fast that play occurred in real-time, didn't you?

I'm not trying to cover for the ref or say that he did the right thing; I'm just trying to convince myself why he missed it.

who toutched what with what dosent really matter. nothing really matters, or i dont know what really matters. I lack the words to describe the pride for our team, i lack the words for the patriotism that was snuffed out by a game that went the wrong way. i watched the hardest game i have ever watched. It was gut wrenching. we did everything i could have ever hoped for and you people watched. your friends watched. millions of americans watched our boys kick the snot out of geremany. we did win, but just not the game. I really dont know how to describe the pride/dissapointment.

I saw 2 of my friends out last night. they are working in my town for the summer. one is from dennmark, and he gave me a hug. I think that pretty much sums it all up. the senagalese guy was very proud of his boys as well as ours. he was even wearing his senagal jersey last night. it was good to have these foreign dudes show the love and respect that american soccer so deserves.
another guy was there with his Brasil jersey on. he was arrogant, but even still shook my hand and said he was glad that Brasil dosent have to face america. the brazilian chick that works there well, she was just hot, and i dont really remember anything she said or did other than walk around looking good.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to this thread, I was traveling (to Chicago where I am right now). Thanks for the congratulations. I watched the game and I have to say hats off to the US team. They were much better than I expected them to be. The German team had a very bad day, but that was partly caused by a courageous performance by the US team. If we had not had Kahn, we might have lost this game. Sanneh played an outstanding game - he plays in the German Bundesliga, by the way, and he was not always a starter, but I think his performance at the World Cup should have opened some eyes.

Well, we were a bit lucky, but we played pretty well against South Korea. Now we have the final I predicted - Brazil v. Germany. I predicted that Brazil would beat us 4:1, but who knows. I hope that Germany can defend well and pull out a 1:0 again. With Kahn in the goal, a lot is possible, but Brazil has just so much offensive firepower, it's scary.

Hope to see the USA in Germany in 2006, they should be further improved and it will be great to see how well they can do.
