Because they know he’s isn’t that good. Ime and Stone overrate him. They could have gotten Ayo with some effort at the February deadline and he went onto score 43 points and play good defense during the playoffs, while the Rockets were clearly struggling despite some improvement by Reed.
won’t trade for 24 y/o LaMelo won’t trade for 29 y/o Brown But this MFer Stone will trade for at the time a 36 y/o KD and then do basically nothing afterwards? somebody…anybody…make it make sense Why did we trade for KD? Why?!? What are we doing? What is the goal?
Man must be hard to be a celtic fan, but hey they did get a ring with them 2. The new owner must of got some negotation skills from Morey lol..
I get that this is a Rockets board so that our focus...but why did the entire NBA make the same choice that we did? He could have been had for a bag of doritos and everybody still said nah.
the Sixers didn’t say nah, and they just got a major upgrade for nothing there are a lot of teams content to just tread on by, the Rockets seem to be one of them
i think we are seeing a realignment on salary values given the CBA, specifically the supermax. That’s got to be a huge factor. You basically have to be a top 5 player for it to be worth it for a team. 35% of the cap has to be reserved for truly elite players. Jaylen Brown is an all star, but he’s not a top 5 player. It certainly doesn’t explain the process. One has to question Brad Stevens’ judgement, but I don’t think they wanted to pay JB mid-$60’s/low $70’s over the next 3 yrs. The new ownership group may have played a big role in this.
just recently he was the ecf mvp and he was rhe finals mvp just last year he carried his team to 2nd seed
1. Celtics Nation revolts on Brown's lack of return 2. Stevens is dismissed like Nico. 3. Patrick F. hires Brad as GM. 4. Brad lures Mazulla and Tatum to the Rockets. the end.
Sick of Stone with his head up his ass. All these "assets" just sitting there and we have our D**ks in our hands. The Rockets are old and are going to be hurt when the playoffs come along. KD will be gone too if we flop again this year.
Maybe he was thrashing his teammates on his burner account and got exposed... Oh wait that was our own culture builder, 10 years older, franchise killer that Stone just had a perfect opportunity to unload yet as always did nothing.
It seems like they could have pulled Brown for Jabari plus expirings (FVV and Capela?) and a pick maybe. I think I would have bitten on that personally. We'll have to wait and see if Stone was correct to stand pat this time around.
Brown went for a bag of chips. Stone is the only GM in the league that still believes we're headed to the finals next year.
Stone traded for KD to cover up for the failure of Jalen Green. The trade should never have happened in the first place because so much of the rebuild hinged upon getting the 2021 pick correct right. That's why I think people saying the KD trade was the right call are wrong since they are not taking that failure into account. At the time I wasn't upset that Green got traded. It was the fact he was traded for 37 yr old KD and we had no clear superstars among the young core. I would've been happy if he got traded for someone younger and that didn't carry the same baggage. Those same people also claim that trading for KD wasn't a championship or bust move which is complete nonsense. KD's by far the best player on the team even though he's mentally incapable of leading a squad to a championship. If you don't get it done with KD then this is all a waste of time and the Rockets could've been closer to the goal of winning a championship had they gone a different direction. Does anybody believe we can win a championship in the next 2 yrs with KD on this team?
We already know the answer is no. The only way Stone is redeemed is if Sengun becomes a legit threat from 3, Amen learns to dribble and shoot, Jabari learns to create his own shot, and Reed learns how not to be a defensive liability. Folks say that all Ime does on the sideline is shout 'play tougher' **clap clap** Well, Stone is the GM watching from the suite who only knows to say 'get better' ** clap clap** ... 'internal growth' ** clap clap**
Seems like the goal is to win about 50-52 games, make the playoffs, then get dropped in the 1st rd as usual.
