this kind of discourse would scream Daryl trying to lower trade value about a decade ago. Would be so funny if the next alert we get is Stone trading for JB for pennies.
Celtics have no leverage the second word came out he was available in the Giannis trade talks. Everyone knows Jaylen is pretty dramatic so there is no way he is on the team next year. Celtics chemistry would be terrible. Smart teams will not overpay...same thing happened with Durant and the Suns. Plus, that contract is an eye sore.
Ok. I’ll play. Boston: Sengun, Nnaji, Cam Johnson Denver: FVV, Jaylen Brown Houston: Murray, Valancunious, Garza, Denver frp 31 Then: KD into Charlotte trade exception For Charlotte 27 and 28 frp’s Then: Adams, DFS, 27 Phx pick, 2- 2nd round picks to Bucks for Turner Sign Rui Hachimura 4/90 Re-sign Tari 4/80 team option 3rd year, 4th year Murray,Amen,Rui,Jabari,Turner Reed,Thornton,Tari,Garza,Valancunious, We will have gotten rid of all dead weight contracts: Adams,DFS,FVV, solved PG, added 3 pt shooting and hordes additional trade assets.
The only thing that matter are wins! If he has the highest winning totals over the past few yrs, that can not be discounted. Stone is an analytic savant but can't put together a team to get past the first round, so what does that tell you?
https://www.theringer.com/2026/06/29/nba/jaylen-brown-trade-rumors-blazers-nuggets-rockets-celtics The most intriguing (and fair) trade: Brown for Alperen Sengun, Tari Eason (sign-and-trade), the Rockets’ 2027 first-round pick swap (which will likely yield the Brooklyn Nets’ 2027 first-rounder), and a 2030 first-round pick.
[Amick] Jaylen Brown’s trade value appears to be lower than Boston expected. They will have to significantly lower their asking price if they plan on trading him anytime soon. [Amick] Barring a drastic and unforeseen change in the market, the Boston Celtics will have to significantly lower their asking price if they plan on trading him anytime soon. Portland’s interest is “moderate,” Denver’s interest is “overstated,” and Brooklyn is “not engaged at all.”
I would trade Alpi and Eason for Brown straight up no draft picks. Amen and Alpi can't be on the floor together. Helps the team now and doesn't hamper the future in anyway by trading picks or any of Amen, Reed or Smith.
I agree, just trade them Alpi and Tari. If I had to give up a pick it would be a 1st round pick in 2030….
Guys like this are what's wrong with the analytics debate. I feel like this kind of deep dive might be relevant for someone who hasn't won, hasn't led a thin team to a top seed, and hasn't consistently stepped up in big moments deep in the playoffs. But he has, time and time again. I got an MS in analytics but the basketball analytics world is filled with guys who've lost the forest for the trees, and people like this made me stop wanting to join the field.
I wish we could dump KD but this would even out our roster big-time Adams - Capela KD - Jabari J.Brown - (DFS) Amen - Smart* FVV - Sheppard Adams, Capela and Jabari (small-ball) can split the 5 minutes. KD and Jaylen might both be 1-on-1 guys, but they can at least both defend and shoot. Amen can go back to playing off ball more with FVV back, and can be a do-everything utility guy who can try to make 1st Team All Defense again. I don't really want Smart but it sounds like we're getting him, and he at least gives us a tough vet off the bench (and works well with Reed in theory). Reed can focus on firing away.
YaoMac era under Morey only got out the first round once. We only have 2 tries in the Stone era so far, and the 2nd one we had 100M in injuries. Acting like Stone teams always fall in the first round is a joke.
Does Udoka want Brown? You'd think the FO would have asked his opinion on getting JB to Houston. If we aren't even asking, it would seem pretty telling that his former coach said No.
Boston wouldn't do it but trading Sengun for Brown somehow makes too much sense. c Jabari pf Durant sf Amen sg Brown pg FVV
Years ago we ran basketball camps for kids under 14 - in our camp we put values on everything we could think of skillwise, but a few years in we noticed that some kids that were not that highly rated, were just winning - their teams ALWAYS won, even with lessor talented players - so we had to evaluate that as part of it, there are some players that just make EVERYONE better - and those are hard to identify.
