I have way more interest in trading for Brown than Giannis. Brown is younger, can hit 3s, proved that he can be a true #1 this season, and plays plus defense. His contract is massive, but you have to pay top players. The question is cost. I would definitely trade KD + draft capital for Jaylen Brown. A package of, say, Sengun + stuff for Brown? That is a little more questionable.
How is Brown "constantly injured?" He's not an iron man, but the last 5 seasons, he's averaged nearly 68 games a season.
So he's averaging missing over 14 games per season over the past 5 and you think that's good? In the past 7 seasons he's managed to be healthy for 70 games just twice
I wouldn't say it's good, but I wouldn't say it's bad, either. I definitely wouldn't describe him as "constantly injured," especially since he's never played fewer than 58 games in a season and has only played in less than 60 twice. In other words, he may be prone to minor injuries, but nothing that would derail a season thus far.
If we, hypothetically, traded Sengun for Jaylen, who would you start at center? Adams? Go small ball and start Bari and the 5?
That's just one part of it and players don't tend to get healthier with age. Bigger issues are the fit since his 3 point shooting and TS% haven't been any good recently. You can't have a mediocre to poor shooter next to Amen unless you want problems... both of the "guards" can't suck
I know its very unpopular but if i was Houston, i would be trading Amen, w/ Picks for Brown. Because with Fred, Brown, Durant , Jabari, Sengun, Eason, Adams, Reed plus a new bench Looks pretty dang good. They get a #1 franchise player they needed.
It'll be the opposite of a Morey team. I can see it now, 4 Ime guys and KD Amen (Should be a sf/pf) Brown (SF) Tari (Sf/Pf who we shouldn't keep) Durant Bari (should be a sf/pf) I feel really sick having wrote that out and realising it's an actual possibility.
I get it's not a 100% seemless fit. I do wish Brown was closer to a .38% 3 point shooter. But there are incredible synergies I can't ignore. For instance, Amen and Brown would absolutely wreck shop - they'd be an incredible 1-2 POA defensive pair.
not sure I can agree there. A depleted Celtics' team with Brown was one of the best offenses in the league. A lineup of, say, FVV / Brown / Amen / Smith / Sengun is way more offensively talented than the Celtics' starting line-up pre-Tatum return.
Who are you counting as a "non-shooter?" Brown? Because I don't agree with that at all. A "non-shooter" is someone the defenses don't respect. Brown hitting .35 on 6 3s a game is respectable.
The Rockets should be trying to get involved as a 3rd or 4th team and getting draft picks back in trade as a facilitator or for moving a veteran like KD or even someone like Jabari Smith. Instead they want a 30 year old guard with questionable knees.
