Most Americans want to impeach Trump—for the third time

Since retaking office more than a year ago, the amount of corruption and lawlessness President Donald Trump has engaged in has been truly staggering.

Between his grifts and profiteering off of the presidency, his pay for play pardons, his use of the Department of Justice for political retribution, and his shredding of the Constitution to impose tariffs, launch wars, and commit war crimes without congressional approval, Trump is committing impeachable offenses at a fast clip.

And now, a majority of Americans agree it’s too much, with a new Verasight/Strength in Numbers poll finding that 55% of Americans say Trump should be impeached for a third time. Another 37% opposed and another 8% said they were unsure.

“That net +18 verdict puts Trump in the neighborhood of the numbers Richard Nixon saw at the peak of the Watergate scandal in August 1974,” “Strength in Numbers” author G. Elliott Morris wrote.

The poll comes as Americans express outrage over Trump’s boondoggle of a war in Iran and its negative impacts on gas prices and the American economy.

Indeed, Trump is even losing support from Republicans—a stunning fact as the GOP has stuck by Trump for more than a decade now, despite all of his many shortcomings.

The Verasight/Strength in Numbers poll found even 21% of Republican voters and voters who supported Trump in 2024 support him being impeached.

Have you tried asking the cosplaying "free market Republicans" @Space Ghost @raining threes @K9Texan

Maybe you'll realize what I've been saying for years that they don't care about policy and never have. It's a cult

    Something to consider.

According to just about all of the major polling outfits, both those that lean left and those that lean right have Donald Trump at a lower approval rating than Herbert Hoover at the worst part of The Great Depression.

I don't think he will go much lower no matter what happens -- maybe 3%-4% lower at most, and that would involve a recession or ground invasion.

At this point Trump really does not care, it is all a matter of what he can and cannot do -- and I don't think he wants the Republicans to win the 2028 election and he will attempt to sabotage it.

I don't know. I think he has to realize Dems will investigate all his scammy grifting ad nauseum. If Dems win overwhelmingly, he legitimately should fear civil and criminal judgements. As long as Republicans retain control or control is split, his filthy lucre remains relatively safe thanks to the efforts of his loyalists who will sabatoge any efforts to hold him to account.

He may like the idea of Republicans falling apart without him, but I bet he likes all the cash he's stolen, scammed and grifted more.

So did Biden, we might be entering a political era where all presidents wind up with these numbers due to rampant division amongst the modern social media political environment. That or these two guys we're just holy **** bad.

I agree that we are in a period of more division, but Trump is below Biden's numbers when he dropped out... by like 4%

The numbers for Trump are historically bad... once you get under 40%, each drop of a percentage or two is huge, because that is the loss of hardcore believers.

I really don't think he believes anything will come of the investigations.

He wants to be able to tell the Republicans that they are nothing without him - which is why he has sabotaged other potential rivals like Pence, Vance and even Rubio.

Trump is about Trump when push comes to shove and everyone else is just wardrobe.

Difference being Biden disapprovals were "soft" "slightly disapproved" which is why democrats won the midterms and almost every special election. Trumps disapprovals are "strongly disapproved" which is why Republicans are getting destroyed at the ballot box. There's a massive difference between the two

And Trump does not do contrition or even acknowledge folks who aren't 100% MAGA. He will not do the work to bring them back. Most are not now Democrats and will not vote for a Democrat, but they are no longer MAGA either. Maybe this raises a few scales from the eyes though, and once that societal train gets rolling, it will be difficult for anyone to stop. It becomes common sense that Trump is terrible.

And then you have all these Republicans who have so thoroughly attached themselves to Trump that they literally cannot think for themselves. They will be running with that stink on them and trying to thread a needle about being the bulwark against Democratic excesses. I tend not to be optimistic about elections, but by necessity, I have to be for 2026 and 2028. If there is not a massive blue wave in both years, we are all cooked (figuratively and literally).

I'm not sure what you're referencing, the RCP and Nate Silver polling aggregates that I followed we're below 40% support for Biden when he finished his term, and both had him as low at 37% for stretches. Biden's polling, were as far as I'm aware, also historically bad.

And fwiw, I think Biden did an okay job as president, *for what I expected out of him*. His mummy like appearance and demeanor seemed quite problematic, but again, I'm really not sure by how much, given what social media is doing with politics. Because, apparently, people also thought Harris was the worst ever, etc.

Spirit Airlines argued in court that they weren't at risk for bankruptcy and they were perfectly well financially. If they would've fold the court during trial they were at risk for bankruptcy the judge would've approved the deal.

You are sincerely one of the dumbest human beings on this website who stands for nothing

So let me get this right - Its better to let two companies fail rather than let them having a fighting chance? Also, this was never mentioned and complete speculation on your part. Jetblue is still operational.

Why can't you just admit what the Biden administration did was completely stupid and vindictive?

Incorrect. I never said I supported government bailouts. Remember, its the democrats who swore that we must bail out GM and the banks. When Trump does it, its wrong but when Democrats do it, its awesomely great!

They should let it fail. And lets those ticket prices increase!
