Imperial Sugar is closing it's Sugarland refinery. More layoffs for the Houston area.

Can't say that I'm suprised at this...There is lots of competition coming coming from the Caribbean where labor is much cheaper. I guess they'll have to change the name to Strip Mall Land...

Same thing is happening in Hawaii where old sugar cane fields are being replaced by cattle ranches.

Damn, now it closes! I used to have to drive to work everyday down Alt 90 and that place was a frickin' bottle neck!
