Songs from bands that you thought were from other bands.

That's just a sad error.

I don't think I've ever confused groups for a song, but I have been shocked when I found out who sang a particular song... though I can't think of an example at the moment.

 

Thought it was from Reik but it's a Severo song..

Actually, I remembered one of them :

"Let Me Love You Tonight" by Pure Prairie League. I had no idea Vince Gill was in that group and was singing that song. That surprised me almost as much as when I found out the voice of Luanne Platter on King of the Hill was Brittany Murphy.

 

I thought “Stuck in the Middle With You” was the Beatles for most of my life. And I’m old as ****. To be fair, I’ve only heard it on the radio and just often enough to be familiar with it. But still…….

 

imagine my embarrassment when i realized this wasn't a jonas brothers song...

 

For the entire 1980s I thought Erasure and Yazoo were the same dude. Turns out its one dude and another chick.

 

Sublime and 311 are the same band, right?

 

My confusion in this regard generally stems from covers I had no clue were covers.

 

I always confuse Bob Marley and his 11 kids and all other reggae

 

@Jontro thought Michael Jackson was Alien Ant Farm this entire time.

 

I remember when this song hit the radio, a lot of people assumed it was Siouxsie and the Banshees. I did too for a couple of weeks. Listening back at it today, I'm embarrassed because it really doesn't sound like her very much.

 

I thought fat Joe and big pun were the same bad fat rappers for a long time.

 

Neil Young’s own father thought he sang “A Horse With No Name”.

The first time I heard Someone I Used to Know, I swear I was listening to Sting so I thought it was a Sting song.

 

Pretty much every Elvis song, right?

It was only about 10 years ago when I realized this. To this day, he is the single greatest cover artist of all time.

 

I always felt they were trying too hard to sound like Bob Dylan.

 

I thought this was Neil Diamond...

 

I always thought Michael Jackson was singing in this but Disney says otherwise.
