This is from the ESPN Fantasy Basketball section (the "Ask the Gamer" column):

Roger, Chicago, IL: Hey! There are some players available in free agency that have been decent of late, who do you think is worth picking up: Greg Anthony, Oscar Torres or Voshon Lenard? Thanks!

Gamer: Torres is my favorite of the three you listed. Houston really uncovered a gem in this guy. In fact, he's moved quickly from preseason roster filler, to bench role player, to supplanting Walt Williams as their starting small forward. He's very strong and athletic, he is a tenacious worker and he can stick the J. In fact, he likes taking pressure shots and has become one of Houston's go-to guys. I'd take him out for a test drive. Wow, I didn't realize he was a FA. I guess that makes sense but I didn't think about it. We need to lock him up right now. Give him an extension of 2-3 years at a decent but not too large raise. If we wait until summer, his value will raise too much and we'll lose him.

He's an ace coming off the bench and possibly our future starting 3.

Just don't sign him to a 6 year 30 mil deal please.

Why not? What is the average salary of a starting SF?
