i don’t get this at all. Unless you think Rollins or Miller will breakout, this is quite the mediocre team with no dominant one on one player
Amen and Miller have breakout potential. Rollins is an upgrade over Reed at least initially. Amen, Miller, Smith is a solid young core and you still have trade and/or draft assets to build upon. It would be just about as competitive team next year, maybe even better, than the KD led one this year and would bring you another couple of good young players. It would also allow you to play 4 out most of the time. I don’t think it has a chance in hell of being executed, but it’s a damn good trade from the Rockets perspective.
I don’t think Miller is that great. He is a very streaky shooter and nothing special in terms of one on one ability. good/above average not great and that’s what this roster is. That doesn’t cut it since many teams in the league are good but not great (blazers, hornets, heat). I don’t think it’s better than 25-26 rockets at all and may be a play in team. There’s no dominant scorer on this team. Miller is a complimentary guy and Rollins is a tier below Miller and Amen. Especially in the playoffs you need dominant scorers when defenses clamp down.
I disagree on whether the two teams would be similar in win potential. Surrounding Amen with shooters is an offensive plus, Turner is a better rim protector than Sengun. Even if we do lose more regular season games, we give our young guys another year to develop, especially offensively and become a more modern day offense. I see absolutely no scenario where we build a veteran team around KD and Giannis (or plug in another superstar) and compete with OKC and SA the next couple of years. This trade would actually enhance your draft picks, add 2 good (not great young players) and allow your high potential core piece to play in an offense more suitable to his development. It is pretty much a soft re-build. I get it you want to go for it during the Durant or Giannis window, but it just seems like a formula for a decade of mediocrity and puts us on the path of a complete re-build with even less assets and a lottery system that does not reward tanking.
The window to a championship is usually small. Teams may never reach another window after building a contending roster. The Spurs may never reach another window after 2029. If you have a chance to get Giannis to pair with another dominant player to make a run, you do it. The window won’t last forever and this is an opportunity to be cemented in history as champions.
Alpi and 1st for Giannis. He also spoke about LeBron, sign and trade Tari for 20M+ If healthy, and that’s a big IF, I’ll take a lineup of: FVV, Amen, KD, Giannis, LeBron, Jabari, Adams, Reed against anyone in the playoffs.
Cleveland is not going to want Sengun. LeBron is going back to Cleveland and as we know, he doesn't think too highly of Sengun.
I get it, just disagree as do most fans on the site. Either way will be more interesting than them just running it back. Who knows if the media has any inkling at all, but it certainly seems like the Giannis trade to the Rockets has petered out.
I really don’t see how Portland puts together a good enough offer for Giannis, now that outright tanking has been taken off the board. They own the Bucks pick in 28 and 29 so that’s probably why they are being mentioned so much, just like the Rockets and Booker. More and more the Rockets should get involved to keep Giannis in Milwaukee in return for their 26 pick. KD and 27 Phx pick for Portis, Kuzma and Bucks 26 pick. Gets the cancer off the team and gets a good young player to develop.
Doesn’t matter, no one knows if he’s going there and even if he was he’s a professional. Has played with players he bickered with. It’s not personal.
Sengun is not a fit with Jarret Allen. Sengun is not a PF. About the only way to acquire Mobley is in a 3 team trade or Cleveland foolishly wants to go all in with KD. I like playing around with trade scenarios, but I really don’t think the Rockets do anything other than tinker around the edges. Sengun really hurt his trade value this season and KD only makes sense for a handful of teams and his trade value at 38 years old isn’t nearly as hearty as some believe. Of course I don’t know, but I believe Ime has a huge say with the roster and he truly believes that FVV’s return puts us back in contention.
I prefer the 1977 version (I'm getting old) with George Burns, Hyman Roth, and the Honeymooners guy who stole Al Pacino's Oscar (another "Godfather II" reference).
