With New Orleans facing a luxury tax crunch, they might be forced to move Trey Murphy III before his big extension kicks in. Sending them Reed Sheppard on a clean rookie contract alongside three future first-round picks gives the Pelicans immense financial relief and a massive war chest of assets. For Houston, giving up that premium capital is a steep price, but it lands a premier 3-and-D wing with elite size and shooting gravity who perfectly fits Udoka's system and unlocks the offense. Would you pull the trigger?

I’m fine giving up the 27’ firsts and the least favorable of the 29’ picks. My hesitation including Reed is purely because we need shooting so badly. I hate the way we handled him last season. If he takes a leap we will regret trading him. I’d like to give it one more yr. Would rather convert KD into an asset NO wants than give up on Reed after two seasons. But to be clear, I’m not opposed to trading Reed; just not on top of three 1st round picks.

He said Udoka’s system, lol. Just kidding I would make that trade in a country second, but it’s for when Ime is gone. Ime’s idea of offense would require one chucker and 4 Steven Adams hitting the boards.

Reed wouldn’t be enough. FVV or DFS and filler is the way to go if you can pull it off. NOP is one of the dumbest organizations in the NBA so who knows.

No bad, but I really don't want to give up Nets 2027 pick, tired of setting out first round and we may have a shot at #1. Maybe 2027 isn't as terrible as it appears.

I think the gamble is that neither of the 27 picks would get you a Murphy level player in the next 3 years or so. It is a gamble, but Trey is going to cost a bunch. Maybe they could sprinkle a Rockets’ pick instead of one of the 27 picks.

The 2027 picks are not very valuable. We have a 13-16% chance at #1

Vecenie] 2026 NBA Draft is in the books, which means it’s time to move on to the 2027 class... Outside of Tyran Stokes at No. 1, I cannot state with certainty that any player listed here will 100% be a lottery pick. Everyone is flawed... this class is not generating much enthusiasm among NBA scouts

I like Murphy a lot, and he's more skilled than most of our forwards... But it's still an awkward fit because of the logjam of forwards already on the team. I'd really favor bringing in guards and hopefully not trading the only healthy one with real potential that we have. I would trade Reed for the right guy, but I'd rather move Jabari or Tari at this stage.

Murphy would be an upgrade on offense to Jabari, but a downgrade on defense, rebounding, and age. We need Murphy to pair with Jabari not take his place. It’s the picks that will get it done, so match the salary with filler or old guys like fVV or Adams. We can get our backcourt help by trading Kd and or SnT with Tari. Would also have the MLE if the cap is managed correctly. Nor more geriatrics.
