I think they'd like to shed a little salary for apron purposes .... Hartenstein and Dort could be traded or have the options declined and come back on lower cap hits, adding in I-Joe gets them a little relief cap wise and they could fill the roster with draft picks / cheap FA's. Still, probably not. I think it's more likely that Hartenstein comes back on a lower cap hit and Dort is gone.
The sole focus should be on trading KD and assets to the Clips for #5 if that doesn’t work you try to trade KD to Milwaukee for #10 and an asset. Then u try to move up in the draft. if that doesn’t work you try to trade KD to Golden State for #11 and an asset. Then u try to move up in the draft. This is the way.
CHI - HOU - NOP CHI: FVV (HOU) + S&T Tari Eason (HOU) (4 years, $100M) + Clint Capela (HOU) FVV is from the area & provides playoff-tested leadership. Bulls tried to trade for Eason previously. I kinda doubt it, unless they were keeping Giannis which I really have no idea which way they go there. Other teams - Miami, Minnesota, Boston, Detroit, GSW, LAC, Denver, Pacers maybe Toronto or Dallas? Some more likely than others. Maybe the Knicks if they get run out of the gym in the finals. Quite a lot of teams have been mentioned, I don't know how serious any of those might be.
not that this is reliable at all (“sources”), but Quickley is a good player. Good shooter, good facilitator, takes care of the ball, decent defender. Seems to play much better when RJ is out. He’s hitting his best yrs. Small guard but he has a massive 6’8.5” wingspan. Seems to get injured a fair amount. His contract isn’t terrible. I’d be all for trading for him at the right price.
Yeah, Quickley is the kind of player we should be looking at. If I felt confident it were true I'd take it as a good sign. I don't know who this source is though, I've never seen this particular account before.
FVV for Quickley ... Money works. Maybe S&T for Tari in a simultaneous deal for the asset return to Toronto??
I may be off, but I don't think that is possible. Rockets payroll before Eason is 187M You are sending out about 45M [plus Tari] and receiving back 69M. That would put you over the first apron which interferes with your plans for exceptions
Immanuel Isaiah (Reed's first name) Amen The Lord may be ready to bless the Rockets if they keep it up.
The Raptors have several interesting buy-low candidates. What about this trade structure: FVV, DFS, and our two SRPs this season. for Quickley and Gradey Dick The Raptors get major cap relief in 2027, a band-aid PG in FVV, and draft capital. We get much needed young guard depth and take a flier on a young forward.
Also, with Collin Murray-Boyles having a great season, I wonder if the Raptors would be willing to move either RJ or Ingram.
Are the raptors desperate to unload Quickley? He is their only PG and I’m not sure why they would want oft injured/old FVV for him except to dump the remainder of his contract. If they really want KD, I could see Quickley and Barnett (expiring) for FVV and KD straight up, I just don’t think we are a great trade partner for them unless they want KD and Ime is willing to let him go.
Quickley is getting to the good portion of his contract. Toronto was wise to sign him to a contract that doesn't increase per year. Obtaining Quickley would mean the Rockets are good enough to win now, as it would likely take real assets (i.e., more than Durant would fetch in a trade) to acquire him.
I’d be behind this, but would the NBA allow it? Seems like it would be skirting the rules? You are better informed than me on the rules.
I don't think the NBA would be against this as long as 2 deals work separately, as they approve several deals that don't fit the rules if treated like one deal. That said, I don't know how Toronto would match Tari. Toronto wouldn't want to deal CMB. Houston wouldn't want Poetl. Pretty sure Toronto would be asking for at least a FRP.
