Yep. Astros have been treading water for a month now. They stopped the bleeding but have not gone on the type of run that would indicate this is a team worth investing in for the short term. Time is running out for them to make that kind of run and any series they lose pushes them closer toward a sell off rather than even standing pat much less buying. Astros get the A’s, Angels, Royals, and Tigers so if they win this series there’s potential for a decent run.
Yes, and while we can debate the talent on Texas, Oakland and the Angels -- the Mariners are due to play better, and the Astros are WAY under water on run differential. The effort has been there this year for the Astros, and they would likely lead the division at this point without injuries, but the Mariners are not going to keep being sub .500%.
My favorite reporting when we traded for Gerrit Cole, "David just gave Goliath his slingshot". When I see Pirates, I think that. GCole, that was a fun era.
If they can take two out of three given these pitching matchups, it would be a very impressive feat! I wish Spaghetti was going against anyone but the reigning Cy Young winner.
Still not a fan of Burrows. I know Astros fans have been saying he's better than he's shown and he's unlucky but the results are the results.
Isaac is underrated at third base. His body type makes you’d think he’d be an unathletic doof in the field like Joc Pederson.
