We tried bryce there too . Not a bad idea . Go with the George springer model. Also , takes some pressure off Altuve who is really scuffling . I know we all miss pena , but I do think he overachieved last year and is not best as a leadoff hitter . Cole.and Matthews have easy 30 hr power and good speed. If either one of them can get their OBP up to league average it would be sweet . Our young OF performance has been the best story of the year , despite being inconsistent.
His power/speed and ability to take walks make him a potentially good leadoff hitter. I think it probably depends on the opposing pitcher. My guess is that Cole is an elite hitter against pitchers with control issues and/or pitchers who frequently make mistake pitches. He probably struggles against the best of the best who have consistent command and generate a lot of swing and miss.
