Butler is just an expiring contract at this point. The trade is for the pick. I think folks are undervaluing Reid. I don’t think Minni gives him up in a KD trade. I think they really will want to unload Randall. I don’t think they are a very good trade partner for us.
Chris Haynes reported that the Rockets were interested in signing Kuzma in free agency a few years ago. I imagine in the scenario of trading KD, Kuzma is the exact kind of filler they would want in return, being a big forward who can create his own shot.
We should really be encouraging the Bucks to hang onto Giannis by sending KD for Portis, Kuzma (expiring), and the 11th pick. The Bucks have really painted themselves into a corner with Giannis. I don’t think any team is going to give them a boatload of picks (at least not good ones) for him. There best bet is to try and win and get closer to when they get their picks back. Really the only team that could get them out of this mess is the Trailblazers who could send back the Bucks picks in a trade for Giannis. Would they do it?
This. About as win/win as you can get in this scenario. Draft whoever drops of Mara/Cenac/Ament/Wagler. Can't overstate this enough. There are like 11-12 guys that wouldve gone #1 in Reed's draft.
I think you are overstating how deep the draft is. Maybe there are 11-12 guys that would go top 3. Sarr and Risacher were pretty well thought of and Sarr looks to be pretty good. I think Mara is going to be a stiff, but I could be wrong of course. Cenac is very raw, but think he would be good for a team that can wait for him. Not all that familiar with the other 2.
We need a penetrating player on the dribble...doesn't have to be a PG, but any player that can create and get to the rim. DD
Sarr was even more raw than Cenac and Risacher was known to be a reach at #1 even at that time. Sarr or Risacher in this draft would get drafted in the teens. Ament is a little bit of an upside swing like Cenac is (but ill be honest I could see a team just take Cenac in the Top 10 based on the measurables alone. His motor is good which is the most important thing). I wonder about Acuff due to his abysmal (might be re*arded) defense. Might drop for that alone. Dave/Ben talked a lot about trading into this draft. I think theres a decent chance the Rockets do it.
Rockets trade : KD Wolves trade : Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo expiring, 2026 - #28 pick + 2nd rd Swap I think snaggin a pg in this draft would be huge, seems like a good crop. This is the year to get involved, plus draft in 27. Rockets keep rebuilding. Randle Interior Defense could be usefull, move Segun to PF. Would also give rockets good shooters with Donte joining Reed in the back court off the bench? Randle has players option he might leave for money.
He doesn't have a no trade clause .... but yeah, that's got to be taken into consideration wherever you send him - it can't be somewhere he doesn't want to be. Thing is, I don't know why he wouldn't want to be with a team more equipped to win than this one. There's several teams we've talked about that do just that, Minnesota & Miami probably the two that make the most sense for KD. I don't know about Detroit kinda depends on what they send out .... but who the hell wants to be in Detroit? The GSW deal, I just don't know how good that team would be - all their horses are old. I'll throw another team out there - Boston. After getting run in the first round, they could be looking to make changes. I wouldn't want Brown, that contract is just too much. If Brown is the moving part, maybe you involve a 3rd team with picks coming back for Houston.
We don't. But if that gets you the 11th pick in this draft .... Butler's contract expires a year sooner, he probably doesn't play again until mid-season or around the deadline, maybe you can ship him off to some team that thinks he's their missing link for "another asset". It also lowers expectations ....
KD went 26/5.5/5 Shot 42% from deep... He's one of the best closers in the game. Underrated defensively Played 78 out of 82 games 37 minutes a game, 2nd in the league And, he only makes 45/yr You're going to tell me that won't bring real value, even at his age? To a contender, with the right pieces in place? KD has played in an age where technology, and knowing exactly how to adjust his game and regimen, has combined with his genetic gifts . His game is aging like fine wine.
Somebody will want him--you're looking for a team where they only have a short window remaining with an older star anyway, and they're getting a bit desperate. Or, a team whose front office's MO is avoid doing a full rebuild and always stay competitive via trades/free agency. That's why the Warriors are a fit, except KD probably still doesn't want to play there. The Nuggets. The Clippers if they run it back with Kawhi. The Lakers (probably in a three-team sign-and-trade) if LeBron decides to go play one more year in Cleveland. The Heat. The Knicks.
I think for sure someone would bite. My feeling is that we wouldn't get fair value in return. We aren't getting back an all-star, or even a semi-star. Best we can hope for is a young guy who hasn't panned out yet, or a couple of solid role players and pick/s To be honest, unless there are severe chemistry issues, we we are better off running it back... Alpy might be the player to try and move, better value in return
I dunno .... they have $60m tied up in the center position between Reid and Gobert. I doubt they can move Gobert without attaching more assets but Reid is an easier move. They are only $29m away from the 2A with 6 roster spots to fill. I don't see how they keep Dosunmu without shedding some salary.
yeah totally ridiculous to think this didn’t mess with Bari and Sengun. And Ime and Stone being incredulous about the “vibes” question reminds me when stone was incredulous about the “poor culture” question 3 yrs ago. They say everything is about the young core and then they ignore the issues that are clearly detrimental to that young core. Why? Because they are responsible and they are both so egotistical and defensive they just can’t take any accountability for anything. Same thing for 6 yrs with Stone.
I think so too .... He was on my radar last year when he played at UCLA, he has the measurables. He decided not to declare for the 25 draft and transferred to Michigan saying he wasn't given enough opportunity at UCLA .... He was the only center on that roster and couldn't manage to get more than 13 minutes a game. I think the guy's soft and he's not the shooter we need on this roster (terrible FT and 3P). I'd much rather have Henri Veesaar ....
I'm in agreement. I think there's not much of a market for KD. He's pouting yet again and that kills us
