Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.), a former Air Force officer and member of the Armed Services Committee, pressed Hegseth on his firing of Gen. Randy George, the widely respected Army chief of staff.

“Why did he get fired?” Houlahan asked.

“First of all, I thank them for their service, and ultimately —” Hegseth responded before Houlahan cut in.
“My impression is you thanked him by a text or a phone call. You didn’t even do it to his face,” she said.

“Out of respect for these officers, we never talk about the nature of their removal,” he replied. “However, I will note it’s very difficult to change the culture of a department that has been destroyed by the wrong perspective,” he added.

“You have no way of explaining why you fired one of the most decorated or remarkable men,” Houlahan said, “and your answer is a very immature way of responding to my request.”

Republicans on the committee largely avoided asking critical questions of Hegseth or Gen. Dan Caine, chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. (No surprise there. Bootlicker loyalists, who have no spines or integrity.)

However, Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) told Hegseth, “I do want you to know I disagree with the firing of Gen. George,” adding he had sent the Pentagon a letter and “look forward to seeing the responses on that.”

DOD out here at White Sands testing GPS jamming and spoofing equipment. Unfortunately, they have no control over which aircraft it affects, so over 2,000 civilian aircraft, 90% of them passenger jets, lost their GPS. That's pretty much every flight into and out of El Paso, Albuquerque, and the rest of New Mexico with some Tucson and Phoenix thrown in for good measure.

I was station at White Sands in the early 90s, on one of our test missions the engineers got the coordinates wrong on our directional jammers and we got an emergency call forwarded thru range control that we were causing Air traffic control issues at El Paso. Somethings never change!
