I officially nominate Martin Maldonado for manager. He’s smart and a leader. Or at least bench coach when Lopez takes over
I never understood or why when people said breaking 100 that was a big deal, and then I started playing……ok now I get it. After going through the addicted phase I finally slowed down and just enjoyed the game and got my HC down to under 20. I shot a 78 ONE TIME but it was aided by a mulligan and two gimmie putts so doubtful I actually broke 80 but I did have four birdies that day that were clean. One thing about AZ/Phoenix golf, our tracks are tough, lots of target golf out here. Nowadays I just enjoy the game and being out, don’t even keep score, funny how that happens to us as we get older…….
I'm high 80's to low 90's although occasionally I will have a mid to low 80's round. Lots of fun though. Hardest sport I've ever played.
1/4 of the way through the season. Astros on pace to lose 100 games for the first time since 2013. They didn't have a $200M payroll in 2013. Brown and Espada both have tons of responsibility in this but Dana will fire Joe first in an attempt to save his job. 1) Fire Joe and make Omar interim Mgr. 2) DFA Bolton (13 BB and 5.27 ERA in 15.2 ip) and bring up Santa (6 BB, 22K, and .524 OPS w/ neutral. 290 BABIP in 16 AAA innings) 3) Put McCullers on 15 day I.L. w/ broken fingernail and activate Ethan Pecko. Move Nate Pearson to 60 day I.L. ( eligible to return 5/26) to make room. 4) Activate Imai and option Murray (5BB, 5 17 ERA in 7ip). Rotation: Arrighetti, Burrows, Lambert, Imai, Pecko Bullpen: King, Okert, Teng, Blubaugh, De Los Santos, Abreu, VanWey, Santa 5) Make plans to bring up Ullola as soon as a 6th SP is needed. Blubaugh, VanWey, and Santa are auditioning for 2 spots to stay on the roster.
This team is cooked and so are Dana and Joe. Dana bears most of the responsibility IMO but sadly he will probably keep his job until after the draft. Miller also needs to go.
The Astros will soon be recruiting players from the stands. They are literally running out of enough bodies to field a team. Have been a fan for many years; I can't recall anything like this. Can you?
Well last year was pretty horrendous too, when the Astros set the record for having the most players on the injured list in a season.
You are correct. In my mind, I was conflating the two seasons. Is it bad luck or the worst training/conditioning program and staff in the league?
Maybe I’ve already said it, can’t find it, but Espada reminds me of Tony Levine (former Houston Cougars football coach). Good guy, probably great within the organization, but not cut out to be the big dog. It’s overwhelming and even if you try to be positive, those sinking ship vibes just trickle down, drip by drip. Before you know it, you’re floating aimlessly on a lifeboat. You’re sunburnt, starving, and hallucinating that Christian Vazquez is a giant roasted turkey with all the trimmings.
Perfect comparison. I am a long-time Cougar fan. It is amazing how many bad coaches and managers Houston sports teams have had.
I broke 90 once. Shot an 88 my last round of 2025. First time playing this year was last weekend and I had 9 pars, the most I've ever had. Unfortunately I was 20 over on the other 9 holes, but it was still pretty sweet. Handicap is down to 25.7
Gotta believe this week is his last chance. If he can go 4-3 or better this week he keeps his job. If Seattle sweeps you would think he’s fired on Friday before the Ramgers series. Crane should completely clean house like Boston, but also including Dana.
