This is dumb, most fans do not closely follow the sport and would/will just vote for big names like Bryant or Wade or former greats like Mcgrady and Iverson

We've seen what happens when you allow fans to vote in All-Star game, allowing undeserving players to take away from those who worked for it.

Hell Yao will probably win those vote simply because of how big he is worldwide.

Even if the fan vote doesn't count for much it still takes away from the vote itself.

Or it could give Yao the tie breaker over James next season.
