that's a good point. i guess i just think about guys like jaime moyer when i think of wandy. just hitting spots and getting their pitches over for strikes with location. but you're right, clemens and ryan show it's more about mechanics than style, i suppose.
and don't forget the knucklers (Hough, Wakefield, etc etc) who can last forever. I'd like to think a large part of that is due to the fact that they're never throwing their arms out..
Or you can be like the guy the Yankees have in the minors. He piitches effectively both right and left handed. He has a specially made 6-fingered glove so he can switch-pitch during an inning. The minors had to incorporate a special rule so that when switch-hitters come up to bat against him, he has to declare what arm he will pitch with. Both he and the batter are permiited one switch after the first pitch is thrown.
