For all the chaos and delays they create at the airport, how many threats have they really prevented? This sht has gotten so out of control. Yelling at old ladies to take off their shoes...Just send peoples stuff through a scanner, call it a day. Security theatre is all it is.
When's the last time you have flown somewhere? You have not had to take your shoes off for a while. Furthermore, why even bring it up regarding TSA agents? Do you think they passed that mandate and wanted to make people do that??
Honestly think TSA, if you're not being paid to do your job, don't do your job. Just let everyone through and we'll find out how many threats are actually happening on planes. If something does happen, you'll get your funding real quick. If nothing happens, then we know it's all been security theater and we're just making people wait hours to fly for nothing.
It is mostly security theater, but I don't think I've personally run into any of the "bad" TSA agents you read horror stories about. Every one I've encountered has been somewhere between pleasant and helpful to checked out and disintetested. Ive gotten a lot more attitude from flight attendants recently and the way they stack you in planes like cattle really sucks. 2 of 4 flights this month have involved full planes, and me sitting next to someone that couldn't keep themselves in their own space. I also think the "pay to skip the lines" TSA crap is deeply un-American, though I understand why people like it. We used to be all about egalitarianism in public life, and now we're stratifying into the poors and the elites. That's fine in a private business setting, if that's what you want. The government shouldn't be involved in that, IMO. Everybody should have to go through the pornoscanners, or nobody should. Those are my air travel related complaints. TSA is low on my personal list of things that I hate about airports. I wouldn't want to work for a month without getting paid, either. The situation at airports currently really isn't really their fault. I didn't have to wait 4 hours in TSA lines at IAH when I flew yesterday, though, so maybe that would've changed my mind.
I am not blaming the TSA agents....I am saying we created this security theatre, can't pay them to do this "security screenings" and now has created travel hell!
