Hope Harwell success wherever he goes, seemed like a great teammate who was always cheering on even when on the bench.

Thought he could have been a Quentin Grimes type of player

Would be awesome to see Cenac come back to develop..

    Then Sampson's an idiot.

Who else is he gonna spend the money/minutes on?

"Bird in the Hand" kind of stuff.

A transfer - that Sampson thinks will contribute more.

Sampson was not willing to promise him guaranteed minutes, he has done that to guys before.

Not going to call him stupid- he has been incredibly successful with limited funds and facilities. If he thinks a transfer is a better use of resources, I’ll trust him.

They are fairly confident about the transfer portal.

What do you think was the deal with Harwell? Was it just the injuries or something like he doesn't play defense or he blows up plays because he doesn't know what's going on out there?

Sampson is far from an idiot. He's an outstanding coach

Even thought it wasn't directed at me, he lost minutes to Percy Miller. Now Miller exceeded expectations but he couldn't shoot. Nothing stood out for me. 5 star or not Sampson doesn't hand over minutes. . I'd rather he hit a HR like Flemngs than bet a a 5 star. He made Cenac work

Harwell played good defense. That is why it took a minute for Sampson to take him out of the rotation. His offense was the issue. His shot was ugly. He threw up weird air balls. He seemed nervous on offense. I think he would’ve worked through that eventually. He’ll have to do it somewhere else. Has great tools. The injury he had, before the season, was probably a factor too.

They are poor compared to the schools they are competing against.

I don’t know for sure. I know there was some frustration with his shooting.

As far as potential Cenac/Tugler/Diane fit: there will be minutes for all of them if they rotated around. If you've watched any NCAA hoops at all this year, you can see how multiple bigs can have great success

They would find plenty of minutes. Cenac has a lot of external pressure on him to go pro or transfer for the most money. So most likely he is gone, but it was still an open question as of a week ago.

The Cougars are looking for older players in the portal, because they feel it helps a lot come tournament time.

Dawes, Burton, Lowe, Byrd, Pettiford, Johnson… all are guys that have expressed interest and UH has interest.

Keep an eye on the guys that leave… Harwell and Lath. There were minute issues with them.

Dawes and Byrd both have expressed very strong interest.

Damn. I hadn't even heard the Cougars were even on his radar. That would be a huge get. I wonder if he's one of the guys Sampson was talking about saying there were players out there that nobody knows are looking at UH and vice versa. Houston's got tough competition

Upon further digging, this was supposedly his list about 2 or 3 weeks ago :
