Sure Sark will get some blowback on this but don't think he's wrong either. There is simply no way the committee is watching and dissecting every game.

One day after LSU coach Lane Kiffin's controversial comments about Ole Miss, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian told USA Today that "all you have to do is take basket weaving, and you can get an Ole Miss degree."

First-year Florida Gators coach Jon Sumrall added to fray later Tuesday afternoon when he posted to X: "Grateful to coach at a top 10 public university that also offers advanced basket weaving!"

A University of Texas athletic department spokesman told ESPN on Tuesday that Sarkisian's comments were part of a larger conversation about tampering and he was stressing the importance of academics at Texas.

"At Texas, we will only take 50% of a player's academic credit hours," Sarkisian told USA Today. "You may be a semester from graduating, but you're going all the way back to 50% if you play here and want a degree. But at Ole Miss, they can take you. All you have to do is take basket weaving, and you can get an Ole Miss degree."

He's absolutely right, but he should be thankful for that. If the committee had watched Texas against Kentucky and Miss St and UTEP, they'd have never been as close as they were.

But beyond that, the committee doesn't need to watch every game. There's only 2 or 3 bubble teams in any given year and you really only need to go back and watch all of their games.

Sark just can't seem to keep his mouth shut - weird for a coach who missed the playoffs and struggled so much last season.

    I love Tech's response.

    Sark:

"There's a team in our state in another conference with a schedule that I would argue, if I played with our twos and threes [on the depth chart], we could go undefeated," Sarkisian told a crowd in Texas earlier this month. "And they'll probably make the CFP this year."
