Giannis gets more assist, WAY more buckets, is way more dominant, and actually is also a SIGNIFICANTLY better shooter than Amen Thompson from deep, as a non-shooting, super athletic big man. Giannis shot 33% from deep, Amen shot 21% LOL
Giannis has been top 5 in MVP voting since 2018 season. Even this season he was still top 5 before the games missed knocked him out. There is currently a large gap between Giannis and Amen (and Sengun for the matter). There maybe some hostility lingering due to the Harden v Giannis words but Giannis maybe the best chance to win a championship for the next few seasons. Obviously the devil is in the details.
I have a hard time seeing the FO, based on their actions, extending a player with a glaring weakness like Amen to a long term max. I can see like 25% cap (max) for 3 years (2 + player option) but that still seems a bit steep.
I would agree he's not D-Wade anywhere near consistently right now, but he does flash moments almost every game where you can dream on him getting there more consistently. He also isn't helped by our horrible spacing, which he is one of the worst contributors to, but far from the only contributor. The more likely path to him being a 23-25ppg scorer would be for him to get better at shooting the ball, and just a little bit more effective at driving. I think that is probably his ceiling, and he may or may not get there. But Amen at even 23 efficient points per game is more valuable than almost anybody else in the league at that level of scoring, because he also brings All-NBA defense, high-level rebounding, and above-average playmaking for a wing/forward. If he can get there he may not be a #1 option on offense, but he would be one of the best, if not hands-down the best #2 option level player in the league. My brother in Christ, you do realize that Amen was #2 in the league in dunks this season, right? No other guard/wing came even remotely close. The next-closest guy you could put in that category, Trey Murphy, had less than half of the dunks this season. Ja Morant has had 240 dunks in his entire career. Amen had 201 this season alone.

And yeah Amen has a lot of dunks because he only has 2 ways to actually score, re-read what I said, I didn't say "Ja has more dunks" I said "Ja dunks over more people" If you want to debate show the proof, I'll show you LOTS of reels of 7 inches shorter than Amen going over people Amen couldn't dream of.

It's a meme dude. I don't really think highlight reels would demonstrate much honestly. My eye test just says differently from yours, Amen dunks over people a lot, more than anybody his size or smaller I've watched play in a long time. I'm mostly off the "trade Sengun" train for now. I want to see what these guys look like under better coaching, with more/better shooting around them.

Of the 20 players who lead the league in assisted field goal percentage this year, all of them were centers or power forwards except for SGA, Tre Jones, Amen, and Ausar. You've got it backwards. The vast majority of guards and wings don't need to dunk as much as Amen because they can shoot. His number of dunks doesn't indicate that he's slashing to the basket with the ball, but rather that he has to be setup by other players like a traditional center rolling to the basket.
Ridiculous comparison. Sengun had to run the offense in a crowd while Amen just lurked for lobs and put-backs. Half of Amen's points were set up by assists compared to .435 for Sengun.
7% is not a big difference between a 5 year player and 3 year player but the defense is night and day when you talk about trading someone, consider both offensive and defensive impact
