Texas will go after the best players available and have the money to do it. 4 stars, 5 stars, transfers. Texas hasn't had a great receiver that they recruited since Worthy. All their other good receivers they've had were transfers.

So now I don't know what to think. It's very difficult to see how the NCAA is applying rules equally across the board. Maybe they need better rules?
There's an extra year there: 2019: Redshirt at San Fran 2020: Covid-Cancelled Season at San Fran 2021: Played JUCO at Diablo Valley - started half their games 2022: Played JUCO at Diablo Valley - started half their games 2023: Played D1 at App State 2024: Played D1 at App State 2025: Played D1 at Tennessee So he's been in college for 7 years and played football in 5 of them. Seems like more than enough. I think the NCAA does have pretty straightforward rules. Courts just keep invalidating them so its become a total shitshow of what gets enforced and where.

Sorsby might be "just a kid," but the harm being done to these players via the full-scale societal embrace of gambling is going to have long-term negative impacts on everyone. It's really gross how we simultaneously unleashed the floodgates of NIL and legalized gambling on 20-year-olds.
That is deflecting a lot of blame off of Sorsby IMO. The guy gambled on his own team, that is literally the only thing you are absolutely not allowed to bet on at any level. I'm guessing this is a non-story otherwise. He also placed these bets as a 3* backup QB at Indiana so not sure how much NIL he was actually making at the time.

Oh yeah he's a moron. But, I don't think he'll be the last to do this and the NCAA and sports world at large have really done a disservice to the players with their open embrace of gambling.
Ironically, the Texas Tech booster who championed the “Protect College Sports Act” is the same guy trying to cut the legs out from the NCAA. All within the same week.
