The color of someone's skin doesn't help shooting in any way. I just want a 40%+ 3pt shooter.......all I care about is seeing Orange go through the net efficiently. DD
I would trade Brooks as he will soon be redundant with Eason and Amen's emergence. But we really really need a marksman - and we need our other guys to improve. BTW - you guys see Garrison Mathews is shooting 44% from 3 this year....ugh.... https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/3913180/garrison-mathews DD
We need a balance of skill sets. Too many hustle players that can't shoot, can't create, can't put the ball on the floor, even have a problem in making a lay-up: Eason, Tate, Brooks, Amen. Keeping Amen is a given and I'd keep eason too if he is not injury prone. The other two must be replaced with someone who can shoot 3s and offer some playmaking/passing.
Yeah I was thinking the same.. He would've been serviceable and borderline valuable on this present roster.
I heard thru the grapevine that Sullivan is the new age shooting whisperer And the thing is they are all capable outside of Amen, who is a work in progress but he does the other things at whoa factor at such inexperience If Sully can work his guru magic and get the core 5 to around 36-40% as collective and get Amen to 25-30% for next yr, then they can go for size....and of course more shooting(with some def. awareness)
Which poster was it who took so much heat for saying that it was our shooting that would leave us mired in mediocrity? I'm sure you are out there. This was almost a year ago. After the signing of BB Rasputin and FVV.
Yup, i completely agree with this, but i'm unsure on when would be the perfect time to do so. Brooks would still be out best on ball defender even with Eason healthy, but Eason is just too good to take minutes away from him.
If we can add another shooter somehow, and our vaunted shooting coach can improve Jalen and Amen’s shooting, we’ll have way more space for Ime Udoka to get creative on offense next season. Shooting is one of those skills that you truly can improve upon by exerting a ton of effort. This summer will show how committed our young guys are.
I agree we need to improve our team shooting but I don't think we need some shooting specialist that can't do other things. Garrison Mathews is a perfect example of the exact player you don't want. You can be both a good shooter and a net negative on offense if you can't do other things (can't get yourself open, can't rebound, can't make plays for others, etc). This team needs a player that can generate offense from the perimeter. That's why we were winning during the streak. Jalen was able to generate offense and everything fell into place for the team. Sometimes shooting averages go up when someone can create for them like Garry Bird going from KPJ/Jalen to Trae Young/Murray. This team has a bunch of dogs. If you replace some of their minutes you better be adding someone who is a complete player and can contribute in many ways.
