I was never that impressed with Hinch. He was a good manager, I guess. He had a great team. He made head scratching moves many times though. He was weak when the Astros were over-the-top cheating and didn’t stop it. That will always be a really bad mark on him, in my opinion. A great manager would’ve stopped that bullshit. I didn’t care for Dusty but I think he would’ve stopped the cheating. Espada is trash compared to both.
Dezenzo not running out the last out and walking away like he didn't care...that tells you all you need to know about Espada. He knows Espada isn't going to say **** to him about it. Zero fear. Zero respect.
So that's b2b free agent 1B who played through "injury". Cam's offense has actually gotten worse than last season... slightly, but worse. Pena might DNP more than GP.
This, to me, was an unforgivable indictment on so many levels. They aren't playing hard for him, which means they don't really care, which means Espada is failing at the very most basic task of motivating his guys. Utterly unacceptable all around. Altuve not charging the ball and Dezenzo not even running out the last play. Pathetic effort. Dezenzo should be gone tomorrow. The Astros have no business being buyers at the deadline. This team is rudderless and drifting at sea. Blow it completely apart and start over.
Yep, his left oblique has been an issue for Walker for about three years now. It’s the same nagging left oblique injury he had here in AZ. IMO he rushed back last year after going out in ST and until it resolved itself he sucked. Very possible he felt it who knows when and of course tried to play through it. Pure speculation, but that left oblique has been his daddy…….
It has got to the stage where I wake up in the morning (in the uk) , put the highlights of the game on without knowing the score, see that the run time is kinda longer than usual and think by default now, “ oh look this is going to be another close game we are probably not winning”. Urghhh.
We had the game won if they don’t send Allen on a pop-up. I’m sure Espada has delegated that responsibility to the third base coach. Espada should have been fired before the season started. We should not be trading for any rentals. We should also not be trading any of our lower level top prospects or even guys like Pecko or Ullola. If we get a great offer for Pena or Hader we should pull the trigger. Lambert is the real deal and is going to be costly to retain, but we should definitely pay a premium to keep him. Our best course of action is to stand pat or sell high if we are blown away with an offer for Pena or Paredes.
Dusty's biggest career achievement was keeping Jeff Kent from murdering Barry Bonds. I have no doubt Dusty knee Barry was juicing and let that happen. He would have done the same with the sign stealing even if he had no idea how the technology worked.
Except the injury is on his right side this time. Uhhhhhh...yeah. How the hell is the manager going to communicate with baserunners from the dugout?
Berkman was a 34 year old rental posting by far his career worst season. Trading him is nowhere near equivalent to trading Yordan (a 29 year old MVP candidate with 2.5 years of control).
So the runner is supposed to look into the dugout to know whether or not to tag up on a fly ball (which is the situation we're discussing)? Or go 1st to 3rd on a single? Or home on a WP? That's ridiculous, you know that, right?
