I mean he's almost certainly not even going to be a starting-caliber player, but let people dream. Every now and then a star player does pop up out of the late first round or the second round. At this point we're going to need that kind of luck to become real contenders. Might as well dream on it while we still can, before reality comes crashing in. Again though, if he can just be better than Aaron Holiday I'll be happy with the pick.
It wasn't too early for Reed. I got to see it on the court, during the season! I just don't believe in short players
He doesn’t need to be a starting level player. He's a second round pick, not a lottery player, and I'll bet he ends up being every bit as good as you could have hoped for from his draft position. Bruce Thornton is a NICE player, and as much as I dislike Stone, he couldn't have done better than what he did with this pick. Will it make them a championship contender? Absolutely not. But Thornton is a winner. There is nothing not to like about having a guy like that on your team.
I thought lotto picks were supposed to be stars? So why people so mad at Sengun when he was the 16th pick ans became a 2x all star? Vassell is just a replacement level player to me. Worse than Tari Eason and we might even be dumping Tari.
I guess they needed a guy that's not gonna make FVV look too bad in practice since his pudgy ass is coming back from a major injury. I'm sick of Rockets management... and nba players with long dreadlocks for some reason. I'd rather Reed have a full year with the rock in his hand than to see FVV suit up again or anyone else with a similar build. Drafting Reed at #3 made no sense if FVV is still going to be on the roster.
Positive Vibes: It would be awesome if he gets PT early in the season with Fred dinged up/restricted, then carves out a small role in the rotation when Fred is back, and then convinces Stone by the trade deadline that he's ready for heavier minutes and we trade Fred for an upgrade at another position. Let's make a miracle run and he can be our Sam Cassell...
