I may be in the minority, but I’m frightened our front office is going to go all in on a 30 yr old Jaylen Brown. If I thought we had the top tier players to compliment him and truly contend, I’d be excited to add him. But I don’t think we have the foundation of talent and with his $60 mil salary I think this would lock us into a win now window for the next 3 seasons. We just aren’t on a contending level, even with JB. Like everything it depends on what we have to give up, but I don’t want to cash in all our picks for an older player.
You are right to be scared. Do you think either Stone or Ime have a job this time next year if they don't get out of the 1st round? Expect some kind of desperate win-now move for sure.
I’d welcome JB with open arms if the cost was KD and FVV, but the cost is likely way more egregious and will cost us at least Sengun and multiple picks. Neither JB or Giannis makes us a contender if we have to give up the assets that make it difficult to fill out the rest of the roster and that is the reality. If the JB for Giannis trade happens it will be pretty much be straight up, because no other org is going to be stupid enough to give up mulitiple picks and good players to facilitate it (which is the only reason to include any other team). I will be shocked if Boston breaks up their team. They are a competent center away from being the favorite in the East next year and have 34m under the 2nd apron to make it happen. Being in the 2nd Apron for 1 to 2 years is no big deal for an already built championship roster.
Did you consider Knicks or Pacers a real contender before the season or even playoffs started? There has been a diff champion the last 6 yrs nobody knows who is a contender until it happens. I am not necessarily in favor of JB trade but I dont dislike it either. It depends on what gets sent out. Everybody acts like JB is old at 30 bruh Brunson is 32.

It took me only 1 or 2 seasons to grasp Udoka isn't the one for the job, I guess more and more are seeing that now....just waste a resources to give him.
Looking back on the Lakers series, as infuriating as it was, I think a lot of the problem was just inexperience. Most of the Lakers' players, even guys like Ayton and Hayes, had a lot more playoff experience than our young crew. And LeBron of course has the most playoff experience of anybody in basketball history. That makes a huge difference. Combine that with bad coaching and you end up with lackluster execution. I think we all had a lot of reflexive "this roster sucks and is going nowhere" reactions, and I do think we still have the core problem of trying to find or develop a ""franchise player"", but our young players are not garbage, they have real value whether that's on the court or as part of a trade. The experience they've gotten the last two seasons in the playoffs (I wish it had been more) will serve them well in the future.
experience has nothing to do with Sengun being dry humped by both Ayton and Hayes on their way to the basket. That’s just weak basketball. Our guys are just not as good as we’d like to think.
He didn't play as badly as we subjectively thought though. He averaged 20, 10, and 5, Ayton averaged 12, 11, and 1. Sengun's efficiency was poor, he missed shots he should have made. Again though... inexperience, nerves. He might not be a long-term part of this roster, but if we trade him, we better get a good return. I'm not saying our roster is ready to contend, but I've cooled off a bit. I'd like to get into this draft class and keep building through the draft and looking for that #1 guy, but that doesn't mean our players are trash to be thrown away for nothing.

But yeah this roster plus Jaylen Brown is not a contender. Maybe if you trade away most of our draft capital and another young player for a third guy (who though? Kawhi?) you can dream on it. But it's pushing all of your chips in for one big gamble. Each year, the odds are always going to be low of going all the way, even if you're an OKC level team. Eight different champions in eight years. That's why you open contending windows, you don't go all in on a single season.
LMAO..... So many fans want to compete by constantly rebuilding and taking chances on draft picks. Let's be honest.... draft picks just represent boundless promises to some despite the fact for most they are merely average to out of the league in a few years. @Aruba77 lives in a world where you can just dream about draft picks potentially being as good as Sengun or Amen are.
How would trading for Brown and then making another trade be doing all in on a single season? That makes zero sense.... Like trading for Brown and then someone else would be a window for several years not one..... A lot of y'all have weird ideas of competing.... Like Minny should trade ANT now since they don't have a path to compete to contend? Of course not... because that's not how ACTUAL franchises operate.
