Teams often have to endure playoff heartbreak before winning it all. Losing this series will make the Spurs more dangerous next season- hungrier and wiser.
...or like OKC with Westbrook, Durant, and Harden, they manage to never make it back again. It's never guaranteed. Look at OKC this year, they thought they would repeat.
After being gifted Duncan, (Celtics had far better odds that year) and then gifted Wemby and Harper, watching the Spurs implode is delightful.
I don't think the series is over, the Spurs have literally thrown away games 2 and 4 with mental errors, Fox last night if he just dribbles they foul him and the Spurs are up 3.....Wemby tossing the ball off Castles back in game 2 cost them that one. The Spurs remind me of the Rox when they got down 2-0 to Phx, Rudy said the same way they blew 2 leads in games 1 and 2, also the fact that they GOT leads and just needed to hold them should give them confidence. This ain't over, I think it goes 6 and probably 7. DD
Agreed. Although if officiating is going to be fair to a certain point (a big if) this could end in 6, is my guess
OKC kind of traded away their second best player that summer. Spurs aren't going anywhere without injury.
Yeah, if this is called correctly, it could easily end in SA. That said, I'd like to see NY win it at home.
Time will tell. OKC is still around, Nuggets and Wolves are still capable to contend with minor tweaks. I wouldn't say it's guaranteed the Spurs are going to run the West, even without injuries. Their strength is their team, and that can easily fall apart. Stuff happens.
I think it's just the Spurs' inexperience showing... when you look at their roster, this is the first playoffs for almost every single guy who is actually getting rotation minutes. Even Fox only played in one (1) playoff series with the Kings.
Nothing is guaranteed, but the Spurs learned the hard way last night with the dumbest half of BB I've seen in a long time- jacking 3s, not working their offense and using the clock. They won't make those mistakes again in the playoffs.
Yep. Young players, young coach, almost no playoff experience before this year. Should be headed back to SA with a 3-1 lead. Now there's no way they can possibly win 3 straight against this Knicks team. I worry about the future of the WC, though. Current cap rules and 2 aprons make it hard to keep a group of young GOOD players together, but with Wemby, all they need is maybe 2 other high-salary guys and some solid role players.
Josh Hart should buy De'Aaron Fox a new Lambo. Hart was on the verge of giving the game away with his mistakes in the last 2 minutes, then Fox decides to try a layup over OG with 10 seconds left instead of pulling up, killing some time, and taking a foul. Spurs would've been up 2 or 3 with about 5 seconds left AND a foul to give. One of the least-aware things I've ever seen at the end of a game -- almost JR Smith-level.
That was worst than JR when you realize he also doubled Brunson when Brunson was already being guarded by Wemby allowing OG to get to the putback and he coulda just held on to the ball. He didnt need the layup. It was worst than JR smith.
