Trump says US will "declare total victory" over Iran in next two weeks

President Donald Trump suggested that the United States would be declaring “total victory” over Iran in the next two weeks in a tele-rally for South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, who is on the primary ballot Tuesday.

“We’re negotiating now, and they want to make a very good deal. They’re willing to give us everything, they’re willing to give us no nuclear weapon,” Trump said.

“I think we are winning that battle, but you’re really going to win it over the next two weeks when we declare total victory, it’ll be a total victory, it’ll happen very soon, and oil prices will come tumbling down,” Trump said.

 

Trump has always lied with total disrespect for his intended audience.

What has changed is the strokes and dementia and other geriatriac conditions are catching up with him and he now lacks the cognative agility to come up with convincing stories on the fly anymore.

So sad.

But as disrespectful and manipulative as his bold faced lie here is, that's how he's always though of you, the hoi polloi. The only difference is he can't hide his deceptions any longer like he could at one point.

Southern Lebanon may become a ‘permanent battlefield’

Ronnie Chatah, an analyst and host of the Beirut Banyan podcast, says Trump’s proclamation that the war on Iran will end in the coming days doesn’t add up with the reality on the ground in Lebanon.

Besieged and bombed relentlessly by Israel’s military, southern Lebanon “could be, at the end of the day, a permanent battlefield”, Chatah told Al Jazeera.

As long as Hezbollah’s weapons arsenal remains intact and Israel’s occupation continues, fighting will go on, he said.

“Lebanon at large is a war zone. I think ‘ceasefire’ is not the correct term to use even though the Trump administration applies it while southern Lebanon is bombed,” he added.

Israel attacks Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon; casualties reported

For the residents in Tyre, anybody who is staying behind is in a lot of danger. In the past hour, we’ve seen another Israeli air strike near a Palestinian refugee camp.

The strike happened at a roundabout leading into the camp, a very busy location. There’s also a bus station right at the entrance to the el-Buss refugee camp.

Initial reports are coming in of a lot of injuries in that attack.

Israel continues to carry out artillery fire on the city, and there are drones flying over Tyre. For anyone trying to get out of the city, the road is quite dangerous. There have been a series of air strikes north of Tyre along the same road people would use to exit.

In the latest primary, in voting for the person who will take over Pelosi's seat in Congress, I voted for the only candidate who was openly talking about ceasing our funding of Israel, and he didn't get many votes, at all. He was endorsed by Bernie, FWIW. But no, SF will probably elect the most milquetoast, business-as-usual, Israel-friendly democrat establishment guy (named Weiner).

So, all my liberal fellow citizens in SF complain nonstop about Trvmp but (a) won't stop shopping with Trvmp-friendly Bezos on the daily, and (b) won't think hard enough to vote against changing the cycle of supporting Israel.

And that's one of the most "progressive" districts in the union. I don't give us much hope for meaningful change. SMDH.
