the nets were gonna be bad no matter what. I’ve written about this at length and will paste in a couple links.

“they won those 32 games with Mikal Bridges. Are u arguing that they would have kept Bridges and not made that trade with the Knicks? No way they are passing up that trade. No way.

here are the eastern conference teams that finished below the Nets that season:

    Raptors
    Hornets
    Wizards
    Pistons

Three of those teams are playoff or play-in teams now. The Bulls and Pacers were the only tanking teams ahead of them. Would they have won 20 games this season not intentionally trying to tank? Probably not. But 26 wins, the number they won without bridges in 2024-2025, is very realistic. That puts them at 7th this past season. I’ll take those odds in a generational draft”

And OKC also 3 FRPs in 2026 and 3 FRPs in 2027. No idea where they are going to put these six players on their roster, without moving on from someone.

Back to the topic, I am not sure two picks from a bad draft can land the #6 pick from a good draft.

Not "no matter" what.... that is absurd and there is no link you can post to show that the Nets were 100% stuck being "bad" after getting assets from both the KD and Harden trade.

I lean towards no.... especially for the offer by the OP.

I know the 2026 draft is great but that's putting a lot of eggs in the 6th pick basket.

Could they have made other moves after doing the Bridges trade? Of course they could have. I'm sure there were plenty of trades that could have been completed if they didn't have their pick. There is also the mental aspect that makes your team play worse when you know the organization is tanking. Bottom line is you don't think it materially changes the teams win output if you don't have your pick I do. ESPECIALLY with the insane level of tanking we have seen over the last two years. There's literally 10-15 games from the midpoint of the season that you face a team that is desperate to lose. One more thing is we've seen how literally just playing hard and good coaching is enough to win a lot of games in this league.

I wouldn't do it. It's too much of a gamble.

I think people forget that every draft typically produces at least 2-5 star-level players, and usually 0-2 true franchise-changing 1A-type players.

The other thing is that next year's draft gives us two shots at finding that guy. With the new lottery system this makes our picks even more valuable.

That "down the road pick" is out of the question.

No to the offer as laid out by the OP but I'd do it for the Brooklyn pick swap and the PHX pick next year, I think PHX is likely to be a middle of the pack team and if the Nets don't own their own pick, they could actually sabotage our lottery chances by being in the bottom 3.

Hell, maybe you put some protections on the exchange too?

Bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.

And let's be honest, OP is only suggesting it because we need a point guard.

The problem is it's way too much of a risk. We're already hearing concerns about Reed's size, and a lot of the point guards projected in that range are basically the same size as Reed.

I'd rather keep our assets and take advantage of having two chances in next year's draft than force a move just because we need a PG.

Have you watched any of those guys you mentioned? They're all uninspiring. I'd rather have Acuff or Flemmings than 2 of those guys.

No sir but Joksimovic got me a finals mvp in 2k. All I need to know. I might do it if it guaranteed one of them. I just want a promising point guard on this team lol

You bypass the 2026 draft. Trade Durant for a future 1st rounder. That gives you ample chances for 10 picks in the next 3 drafts. I would also consider trading Sengun for a few picks as well.

Keep developing Amen Reed Jabari & Eason. As you move into the next few seasons sign free agents in the age range of 24-28.

Fair logic but based on my shallow dive I don't think Joksimovic will ever be a PG in this league. Unathletic and mediocre handle. He's more of a wing. Branch looks like an undersized tweener. Mullins... I know sometimes I jokingly call Reed "white Landry Shamet" but Mullins actually is white Landry Shamet.

Now if you said we were guaranteed Stokes and one of the guards then maybe I'd pick that over Acuff but if it's just these guys I'd rather have Acuff than even all of them together.

I don’t need you ******** on my day. Those 27 picks all I have to look forward to at the moment lol. I wouldn’t be made of the made the trade. I’d be excited with either. I’d trade KD + our 28 or Sengun for a chance at Burries or Philon this draft

The funny thing is that last year, the team's that got the top 2 picks, Dallas and San Antonio had much better records than Brooklyn. Ironically if the Nets were a bit better they might have had the winning combinations for Flagg or Harper. But there's just too many factors in play to really argue about.

I'm fine with this as a plan. I'd love to get into the 2026 draft but it's going to be hard without overpaying. Other front offices know as well as we do the comparative quality of each draft. I would just add that I'm ready to move on from Eason too. If we can get a protected or late first rounder or something in a sign-and-trade I'd do that.

I would be "willing but not eager" to trade Sengun. I think it's most likely going to be better to do that the trade deadline or next offseason, but it depends on the offers. There's a price where you part ways now.

I think you need more rim protection and shooting from the 3 point at the center position if you are going to have Reed and Amen both of which work well together but work better with the attributes i mentioned than what Sengun is good at. Those 2 attributes are hard to get in one player at a high level though.

I also did not mean to say "ten" picks. That would at the most be 6-8 picks with Durant and Sengun traded away.
