I think when the three "on-ball" frp's you select (out of ten frp's in 4 years) are guys who were known pre-draft to have underdeveloped ball handling for the role and limited experience as a lead guard vs. high level pre-NBA competition, yes you are underindexing on on-ball skill in your roster build. And I was/still am in favor of the Amen and Reed picks.

I don't even think Stone/Udoka would disagree. There are trade-offs, it's zero sum. Index highly on one thing means underindexing somewhere else. And they've indexed highly on size/physicality/competitiveness/ORebs.

Stone said it himself in the post-season presser. We haven't been as skilled as we need to be, and that's a roster construction choice that they've made in favor of size. And they're re-thinking that.

Part of the draft process of drafting really young guys18-20 yes old vs 20-22 yrs olds is that Stone's belief his staff (Silas & co.) can develop the prospect during those years better and quicker than the college coaches.

Despite getting more NBA reps, the 'skills' that we speak of including ball handling, plays recognition, defensive coverages, have they really developed at a better pace?

Why does FVV feels he has to be a player coach, did the previous coaches and vets not do that properly. Dickerson been around many different teams, when he was up close with his new teammates, even if in bad form, said his honest feelings.

There are improvements with the young core, the issue is that it's at a slow pace. These players are all young, but they have this expectations of getting paid when they haven't developed from food to great yet. If Amen is not developing that shot, need to cut bait early.

Fans talk about championship windows, yes we're far from it, but the pay scale window is hitting Stone in the face for not having good development coaches around early enough during the rebuild.

I still think, with everyone healthy that it's unbalanced - they needed another guard before FVV was lost for the season.

Sure, you lean into Reed and Amen as the backup point guard but if that fails, you need a backup plan and it's a long season, injuries happen, guys miss games .... having a competent player at that position might have been the difference between the 3 and 5 seeds.

They had 7 forwards on the roster before signing Dorian F****ing Sucks.

They had only 3 guards on the roster FVV, Reed and Holiday (You can call Amen a guard if you want but I refuse, he's a forward) and only 1 of those 3 guards has the point guard skillset, the ability to organize the team and get them into (Not Run) their offense, and do it in a timely manner.
Holiday is an undersized SG who can't run the offense and Reed is inexperienced and lacks the ball handling skills to play the point on a regular basis, he's as bad as Jalen was as a rookie trying to bring the ball up and has a very bad habit of picking up his dribble at the first sign of pressure. I can't count the times he picked up his dribble and tried to make dumb passes to a double teamed Durant.
When it was obvious Amen and Reed weren't working, they still didn't go out and get a guard at the deadline. Dosunmu should have been priority one - Tari and a minimum contract probably got it done because Chicago had a hardon for Tari.
You get an asset for Tari and shore up your weakest position and you get Dosunmu's bird rights allowing you to retain him for the future.

I agree we have bad dev coaches but that on Udoka bro. He brought in Ben Sullivan who is supposed to be a shot doctor.

First of all you realize our 3 stars are supposed to be KD, Sengun and Amen right? Thats gonna leave the pg spot really thin because the money is going to other positions. Sengun isnt a traditional center he is a playmaker, so with Sengun KD and Amen there isnt that much room for a pg. So what if yiu dont think Amen is a guard, he is still playing the SG spot due to KD taking his natural role.

Reed is already earmarked as our FVV of the future, he is making 10M if he isnt the main backup guard whats his use? He needs to learn how to run an offense and if he doesnt get any PT how will he learn?

Dosunmu would be nice if we didnt have FVV making 25M. However since we still have FVV this isnt the right time to trade for him. We cant afford him bird rights or no since the Rox are 1M below the apron. Dosunmu is also a scoring or combo guard similar to Reed, he is more known for scoring than playmaking.

Can Dosunmu play defense? He's different than Reed, but I see him having similar issues with Sengun. He's peskier on the perimeter, but gives up a ton of penetration and doesn't seem dialed in when not on the ball.

I will say SCHN+ has caused me to see fewer non-Rocket games. My apologies if he's gone from someone that looks good at defense to someone actually good at defense.

I dunno tbh I havent watched him much. I remember he was a solid defender as a rookie in Chicago but in Minny he popped off more from scoring thats why people wanted him.
