We don't have any cap space, he's going for well over the MLE, and he was just had at the deadline for a handful of 2nds and a bust.

Now the Wolves who are in win now mode with a superstar in ANT, who lost DDV for next season and quite literally have zero PG's on their roster have his bird rights.

How could we possibly get him? It would take an enormous overpay in a S&T.

Podziemski is a very similar player, but also would be very tough to get.

Grimes or Dosunmu (in that order) would help the Rockets quite a bit. I think the Wolves do everything possible to keep Dosunmu. The Rockets could get Grimes for the full MLE possibly.

    Grimes is a winner.

Now now - Stone has been a master with the enormous amount of cap space he had… yes we are at the apron, but who needs Ayo or Grimes when you have Clint Capela or the cast of old broken down guys.

The Rockets didn’t have a point guard or shooting guard on their roster last year, so the Wolves would do fine without Ayo… maybe we can deal them Capela or Adams or FVV or DFS.

As for Brandon P, who needs him? Cam Whitmore is fire for the Rockets.

we could SNT for him with a team that has cap space for picks and DFS contract ……. But we could have just traded for him in the offseason and got his bird rights …. So dumb that we didn’t get him when we literally did not have a freakin pg… stone is a freakin idiot

Yeah - the Warriors were nervous when Stoner was trying to trade up.

Does the awareness here exist that Ayo will most likely get MLE money ($15M), and the only way for us to offer that is to ensure we don't breach the 1st apron after using it [and be sub LT b4].

This also requires keeping enough space before the 1st apron to match Tari's offer.

It is all possible, but requires some skillful work not to needlessy give away future assets

my understanding is that Podz was actually a top target for us with that pick.

If Stone can find a way back into the 2026 lotto that will earn him big points in my book. Trading KD and getting into the 2026 draft are my two biggest hopes of this offseason. Both are unlikely imo, but one can hope ;)

I have been holding out hope that Stone did not make a deadline move because he has some very specific deal in the works, or actually agreed to, that he could not disrupt. It’s really the only rationale I can see. That post-season press conference explanation was a bunch of nonsense. And when you see what players that could have helped us were ultimately acquired for, it makes even less sense. Here’s hoping he is a grandmaster.

    Oh, that was certainly it.

But, it most assuredly wasn't a good look, and it was painful.
