If intelligent posters maintain discipline and only respond to other intelligent posters, you can have an intelligent conversation in the middle of the maelstrom. But, too many people take the bait and argue with trolls (including me) which just distracts them from the intelligent conversation and adds to the disruption for everybody else. And, unfortunately, there might not even be a critical mass of intelligent posters here to maintain a dialogue even if perfect discipline was maintained.
What does that tell you when 25% of the posters here produce 75% of the MAGA slop? You also expose your hand here by just labeling everyone not in your MAGA cult as a "leftist". Pre 9/11, this forum was great. There was an abundance of good conversation that had a pivotal influence on my perception of politics. Bush/Gore flipped that upside down. Covid sucked that last of any real conversation out of this forum. Now it resembles more of a middle school boys locker room. And astros123 - he single handily ensured this forum stays at all time lows.

I'm not jealous of wealthy people. Wealthy people have given me work so that my family and I are comfortable in life. In fact I hope these wealthy people do even better so my family will do better. Have you ever met truly wealthy people? Most of the time you wouldn't even know they're wealthy and most of the wealthy people I've met are really nice people. Class envy is a terrible thing. You have no idea what most of these people have sacrificed to become wealthy.

How did the parents of your great great great parents find work without billionaires? Jobs are there with or without wealthy people. I don't care about wealthy people. I don't care about fancy car, house, boat, food, clothes, lifestyle. Have I met wealthy people? perhaps i have perhaps i haven't. I couldn't care less. I rather have lunch with the custodians than any CEOs. I can tell you that much. They are far more interesting to listen and talk to.

I could try but Clutch doesn’t have any point of reference on why I should be in that role. @justtxyank was made the mod but I’m not sure if he’s still active in doing that around here, he said in the guidelines he wanted to have as little impact as possible so perhaps he is and just mods very discretely.
