i wish espada has the balls to pinch-hit Cam Smith

i didn't like how Shewmake was lifted for Paredes with Trammell at 3rd with 1 out. Shewmake had shown earlier in the game where he was able to lift the ball and drive in a run with a sac fly.

Cam is a ground ball machine. Like I get that he's in there for defense but Cam should not be batting higher than 7th.

This is why WAR is a super flawed stat.

Yeah it is decent at comparing overall player value but it’s pretty worthless at actually measuring any given player’s impact on his team’s w/l record.

Doing something once doesn't make you good at it. Every player in MLB has shown the ability to lift a baseball and drive in a run with a sac fly.

Beyond that, Shewmake hits way more groundballs than Cam - 40% of his ABs vs 30% for Cam. He also hits many fewer flyballs than Paredes. Paredes also has a much, much longer track record of making contact, though Shewmake has shown to be good at that too in a smaller sample size.

Paredes has great power to LF but he’s been getting under it a bit too much this year. It’s a tiny adjustment. I think he gets red hot at some point.

Shewmake was lifted for Paredes because there was a lefty on the mound; once that happened the Rangers went to a righty. Leaving in Shwemake on a lefty on lefty might've produced an rbi, but chances aren't high with that as well.

Like I mentioned earlier, Paredes hasn't been great this year, especially the slugging numbers and that was a wasted opportunity to add on.

I have been thinking for a while now that if Salazar can't overall (D+some hits) perform as back up/duo catcher is't the most obv. trade (we all talk about pitching) one our OF (can't play them all) for catcher. Back up catchers cost nothing in trade and $.

You flash a little upside on our young outfielder we might get more than the catcher we need :). I don't wanna lose player like for example Cole but if you put Boras like promo film together with 100mph arm, speed, pecs and hr's....it will fetch good team first catcher. You just cut out that he's mostly sprinting to wrong direction on D and endless whiffs :).

When Diaz gets even little bit hot trade him right away when there's some value. It is't random thing that we look like pro team suddenly when he's not catching and is out with another bat who both take horrible AB's and don't seem to ever stop to think about the current situation. Altuve has earned this, future HOF and the streak he eventually will get at Daikin (if rested enough) will be worth it, but Diaz has no business doing dumb s**t and just be laughing like no matter it's 162 as a catcher.

That kinda deal would also help to get enough games for rest of the young OF to figure out who will be standing come 2027.

Let's not get too lovey-dovey and irrational. We all know and understand DH does and should decrease value, especially a stat as comprehensive as WAR, when comparing players.

How many times are we projecting Death Lineups, defensive lineups, or half-resting-a-player @DH lineups, then remembering DH is basically done by default.??

This affects potential trades and signings too.

Lol... Like we haven't discredited Frank Thomas for decades.

Altuve's LF Adventure made BIll and Ted proud.

They kept pitching to him. F*ck yeah! :). When I saw our lineup I was pretty sure Yordan would not get any pitches to hit.

Interesting to see Rangers plan tomorrow and also what Brewers will do after that. Might depend how Walker will do and also if our pitching explodes regularly the pitching to/walking Yordan might be non factor. In blowouts no runners on he ofcourse gets to hit.

I will get both of my man crushes on same field at Daikin after Rangers in Murphy and Yordan. Brewers (all teams over .500) leading NL Central by 4,5 games and just after they won game 2 against Cardinals 6-0 Murphy ripped his most valuable BP arm behaviour as embarassing and not the way they do things there. Uribe was just celebrating too much and did stupid shagging motions towards Cardinals bench after striking out batter.

Would have loved to see Framber hitting his catcher with manager who is in charge of team. :) Actually might have been pretty rough on actual manager feeling he's failed the team allowing something like that to happen. Pretty sure Joe did't think this had anything to do with him and skipped home happily.

When the man gets in this zone, why do you pitch to him, keep it up but dam, you would think after the first one they would say, OK, he is locked in put him on first.................he is the only player when he is up, I don't leave the room

Yes, because GMs react to one week sample sizes and promo film reels. They couldn't possibly have access to additional data that you or I have.

Giants just traded the best defensive catcher in MLB to Cleveland for a 1st round comp pick and a minor league pitcher.

Patrick Bailey was hitting .146/.213/.183 this season. Has a .222/ .280/ .328/ .608 line for his career.

Did Cleveland make a promo highlight film of the minor league pitcher's strikeouts and an animated movie of a 1st round comp pick's potential value to convince the Giants to make the trade?

Would have been apropos to get him here with "Beetle" Bailey passing away recently.

Interesting that Posey moved off of him.
