We're gonna have some pizzazz while turning the ball over in the back court in a crucial game with a few seconds remaining. You're going to like the way you look. I guarantee it.
You'll "Sleep like a baby" on a Superior Waterbed after staying up late to watch the Rockets blow a 20 point 4th quarter lead
Nearly everyone of those teams has maintained a classic look while adding little touches to keep them fresh. Obviously not the wholesale re-do the Rockets did with the dildo pajamas or the China-approved looks. I'm all for ketchup and mustard with the same overall look and feel of the title years, but it would be nice to put some actual design skill into it. Any new unis might be representing the team for a couple of decades.
I went to Google and told it what I wanted and it came up with a far better logo than anything the Rockets have ever churned out and stuck to the classic theme feel.
We agree then. I want our team to lean into its roots after the worst branding decision in sports history of completely changing colors after winning back to back titles. We went to the Finals 4 times in 15 years but sure we’re blue now. I can’t tell you how much I hated that. The Astros winning in orange for the first time mattered a lot….fans who grew up that with team watching them win in orange in Dodger Staidum. They were very intentional about wearing orange for Game 7. Their owner recognized quickly what matted to the fans. Logos and colors are important because we connect those abstract things to memories …to history. Our franchise’s history had its best moments in boring but iconic uniforms….because they were wearing those same uniforms the years before when they came up short. Mattered a lot to me that Vernon does that jump pushing aside Starks in what we might agree is a boring uniform. I’m insanely great with that…i don’t want cartoon teethy rockets literally designed by a teenager in a fan contest ever again. Lean into the history that mattered so much. I’m great with boring because the most iconic logos and uniforms…the ones you can instantly see in your head as you read this…are boring
I’ve been rooting for them win or lose since about 1984 and the answer is no…but branding is important
