I don’t think Vegas is ever just going to go away but I do think the strip especially is in need of a new identity. Everyone seems so sick of the modern look of all the new hotels and the casinos are all basically the same stuff with waaaayyy too expensive minimums. Vegas needs to get back to its roots and open some casinos on the strip that are there for good gambling with lower table minimums. A place that has a laid back vibe and party pit dancers etc. My fav casino was alway the golden gate back in the day when they had the girl dealers. I’d go to Vegas just to go hang out there for two nights straight and I never had to worry about dropping a grand in 45 minutes like can happen at Aria etc.
I don't plan to go see Wizard of Oz, even in the sphere. Honestly don't care for buffets nowadays. All the good food experiences I have in Vegas now are all off the strip.
Those low end places are the ones that are dying. Vegas will survive because it’s the easiest/most convenient place for bigger conferences… and now they have all the pro sports venues. Gambling, by itself, won’t carry any of these places.
Amazing margins/profits reported on the wizard of oz showings…. They make far more on those daily viewings than they do any major concert/residency there. Will lead to more copycats around the country, or merely making the sphere a glorified imax/movie theater.
Saw a video the other day that said.. vegas is not dead. it's just not catering to the average consumer anymore. it's a rich people playground. F1 is just an example of that.
There was an invite only event at the Sphere that I thought you might have gone to. It was a pretty cool experience. They cut out most of the singing to cut down time which worked for me. The seats there are pretty uncomfortable and small compared to modern cinemas.
Obviously not the way to go. An empty Vegas is no fun. Also, the ‘rich’ (really just upper middle and upper income) are shrinking as money is being funneled to the ultra-wealthy .1%
Despite declining visits, Vegas casinos posted record revenue last year, at roughly $8.8 billion. An LVCA survey found that 44% of visitors had a household income of $150,000 or more.
There’s a correlation between a decline in economy and an increase in gambling. It’s called a ‘hope’ economy.
I would be curious about which casinos in the country pay out the most Vegas seems like they would have the game sewn up so tight that they know the sweet spot of allowing just enough winners to entice others to come play Rocket River

Probably a bit more surprising that I imagined. I was wondering with so many local casinos - Why go to Vegas I notice the Louisiana is actually getting some decent entertainers coming through I think Vegas is more expensive that most of those places too. Rocket River
Dang, Turning Stone Casino is about 1.5 hours from my house and has nice rooms and 3 championship golf courses. Should go more often. Last time I stayed there I won about 800.00 playing let it ride. I did loose 300.00 the night before on the same game.
As far as entertainers go we get a lot of cover bands like: Lez Zeppelin Brit Floyd Almost Queen 7 Bridges and so on. Lots of good current comedians swing through
