What does this have to do with whether CJ has put the work in and if he did these are the piss poor results?
the majority of us are skeptical but will wait and see. nobody is saying he is a superstar, some however, KNOW that he is a lazy bust, one of the worst quarterbacks of all time. “How perfectly ******* delightful it all is to be sure” ― Charles Crumb
From the article above. What worries me is that this is the same issue Stroud admitted he needed to work on after his rookie season. He even mentioned that Tom Brady told him the same thing during their brief time together before his second season. Hopefully, the third attempt at learning it will be the charm.
I don't think I want to see Cj rushing more as a planned part of the offense. Maybe a play or two every other game, Hopefully while catching the defense napping.
CJ can cut his hair, change his diet, work out harder, and none of that bullshit matters if he can’t take care of the ball and lead the offense. The Texans have revamped the OL, got a workhorse RB and have given CJ several votes of confidence. This season it is time to be about it and not talk about it. I hope during this off-season he followed the yellow brick road to see the wizard and picked up some heart and some courage, cause I don’t care to see him moping in the sidelines like last season.
Hopefully, more weapons will help as well. If I am a "war fighter," the weapons available to me matter, and my air support matters. My supply line is critical, and a few tanks in front of me would be encouraging. With more support, more time, and better strategies (plays), better results are possible, maybe probable.
I agree, I want him to be GREAT, but I am tired of the "talk", and he can either show it or IMO we will get to a place that is messy for both sides. We all know what it's like to be in QB purgatory and I don't want to go back there. I am rotting for you CJ, because the alternative scares the heck out of me.
Sometimes, luck has a lot to do with things. Or rather, health of the players. That disaster last game was with really no weapons (no 1WR, no 1 TE) and whole season with no 1RB. But hey, you go to war with who/what you have. Not what you wish you had. He over comp and 4 Ints later, the history is written. Now this year, on paper, it looks good. But who knows, but one can hope for the best and if, big if, the team stays relatively healthy, they will be in play for going.... You know what I mean.
When he was good, he was VERY good. When he was bad, he was VERY bad. Maybe there is a middle ground. With the Texans' defense, that is all that is needed. And Calley has to do better. Let's ditch the BOB plays and get creative and unpredictable. Two runs for no gain, and a very predictable and dangerous third-down desperation pass has a low rate of completion. And a high rate of concussions. If I were playing for Calley, I think he and I would have some heart-to-heart talks.....behind the clubhouse. Like, 'you're stupid, asinine, and too predictable play calling is getting me killed out there.'' At times, CJ needs to go full Bret Farb and waive off the bench play and call another, or go playground.
I understand the whole "last game he played" mindset on CJ. However, he hasn't been as bad as some of you make him out to be. Many things working against him (Oline, lack of running game, weapon injuries), but his numbers still say him performed in the top half the league. The Texans FINALLY took the Oline seriously in the offseason. THAT IS THE KEY to everything. I also think Monty and getting Tank back will be HUGE for CJ.
Do you really think Tank is coming back? A lot of speculation, but no specifics. If he does, he likely won't last long. Too fragile.
I am setting my mind to No, he won't be back and if he does come back it's a bonus. If he is not ready until mid-season then he can be a spark plug later in the year, but for now I assume he won't be back, at least not the "same" Tank...............I hope I am wrong, for me what happened wasnt him being fragile, just VERY unlucky but only time will tell
[Highlight] Texans QB CJ Stroud on his shorter haircut look and the reaction to it: “I was told people thought I was depressed. I wasn’t. I was doing OK. I had been thinking about cutting my hair for a long time. ... I hate that everything in my life is so public. People just have narratives."
