if the Blazers get Brown, they will be better than the Rockets

Rockets will be behind OKC, SA, Lakers, Nuggets, Wolves, Blazers when it comes to the playoffs (I’m sure they might have a better regular season record than some of those teams)…I don’t even think we’re currently capable of beating a healthy GS in a playoff series

we’re just falling further behind in the West each season…we’re literally the Ja Grizzlies

You want to change the way the team plays?

    Change the coach.

This team would be better off with Ivey as HC and Udoka as defensive coordinator.

Guaranteed the whole system would run smoother and there would have been an extra 5 regular season wins and a second round appearance this year.

I don't know if Portland with Brown contends for anything either.

Maybe they would be better than us, but both teams would be in about the same boat, "pretender, not contender".

Utah might actually be the bigger threat to lap us, depending on whether their #2 pick (Peterson? Boozer?) ends up as good as advertised.

I wish we had a front office who could pull a rabbit out of their hat like New York's did with Brunson. Ours doesn't even try anymore, they tried once with KPJ and the results speak for themselves.

    Have to disagree with this.

KD has never had any interests in playing like a PG. Sometimes when he’s in the zone he’ll all for it not he’s always liked having a PG to feed him. Udoka chose to put him in that role and it was very obvious that would result in a lot of turnovers.

Brown I’m sure would like to play that way but has never resisted having a PG on the floor. He’s coachable. Has improved a lot. Got a lot better at passing out of double teams since Mazzulla became HC. His output this season was excellent considering there was no other serious ISO threat on the floor. He would fit well with FVV or an improved Sheppard. However if we have 2 non-shooters on the floor, he will have a career high in turnovers.

I didn’t say anything about them contending…they would beat us in a playoff series, which is what I’m concerned about

like I said, we’re the Ja Grizzlies right now…they were that young promising team back in 2022, and it’s been downhill in the West ever since

so yeah, Portland is not a contender with Jaylen Brown, but they’d beat the Rockets in 6

Brown along with a Pritchard / White for a combination of KD and some youth, hell yes.
    Brown for KD, cool.
    Brown for Sengun, meh.

Brown is one of my favorite players but in our offense (2 non shooters, slow pace, no movement) only the most elite handles in the league would survive. It would look bad and you’d start blaming him.

If you trade Sengun, then you still have Adams and Amen on the floor. Paint would be more clogged than before. Won’t work. You’d still need to acquire a stretch 5 which is pricey but we’d end up with a very very good team. I wouldn’t mind but I don’t trust used car salesmen Stone/Udoka, they will keep pretending spacing is imaginary.

Could trade Amen for him. Sengun/Bari/Durant/Brown/FVV would probably be the least athletic team in the NBA. Strong players but not dynamic at all. The half court offense would be great though, probably top 5. Sengun would absolutely flourish for the first time in his career.

Tough choice but bottom line is we can’t have 2 non shooters anymore no matter what we do otherwise anyone who needs to drive to the rim will suffer - as they have for years.

Thing is, look at Brown's shot chart. Take away his inefficient 2 spaces from 3 and he's now a great shooter. I don't really want him, but on a team with grandpa Dickerson then his volume should come down. If he learn to just shoot where he makes them we'd actually have some kind of capability as a "shooting" team. (For a "non-shooter," that aint bad lol)

Follow the motivations of the owner --- what he wants to do is exactly what will happen. That guy isn't going to defer to his basketball people on a team that he is leveraged out of his ass to own. This is my speculation, but I suspect he is sick of the human blunt, Scoot Henderson.

This trade could workout for us if we traded Tari and Sengun + picks. I would start Amen over Fred and then go pickup Grimes and Andre Drummond. Also, I would try to resign most of the stay ready guys from this years team. For sure Aaron holiday and Josh okogie. I would see if I could sign a Cam Thomas for league minimum. Also pick up Precious Achiuwa to be a backup 4 for us. This could possibly keep us within the 1st apron. If we can get some really good rookies for the cheaper price, it’s even better.
    Amen
    JB
    KD
    Jabari
    Adams/Drummond

    Fred
    Reed
    Grimes
    Precious
    Adams/Drummond

If they’re giving up Jerami Grant and Shaedon Sharpe + picks, it’s going to be a much better team that will still be improving. If they are able to sign a MLE free agent, they’d be in pretty good shape. I think it makes sense for them.

He would definitely thrive in Boston with a better coach, GM, and organization overall. It would suck seeing homegrown talent thriving somewhere else while the Rockets continue to cut corners and fail.

Jalen Brown is a perfect example of what I want the Rockets to do...

Last summer Jalen Brown was considered a neutral to bad contract. He got showcased all year long and now he's repaired his value and Boston will likely get multiple picks back for him, in addition to young talent.

This is what the Rox need to do after we give it one last shot in 2026. Showcase, then sell high. Rinse and repeat with multiple players until you have a warchest full of picks in the future, giving us a chance at young superstar to build around, ascending at the same time that OKC/SA are descending.

But trading for Jalen Brown? It's a no for me, I'm saving all our picks. The only one who is worthy of outgoing picks is ANT.

    Exactly!

We need to cash in and sell high on our Ja [Alpy] now, before it all falls apart.
