Also from the same article, they talk about how Memphis could get screwed over in their trade with the Jazz for JJJ with the new rules, but added another example of a team potentially getting screwed over :

For example, in 2029 the Houston Rockets own the swap rights to an unprotected first-round pick via the Phoenix Suns that was acquired in return for Kevin Durant. The Suns were a play-in team this year, and they realistically could be again — or miss the playoffs entirely — in each of the next two seasons. If their 2027 first ends up landing fifth, and then their 2028 first lands third, that would mean the pick Houston traded for can’t end up in the top five in 2029. A trade that Houston made in July 2025 just got worse in May 2026.

Just ask yourself this. If Stone were fired tomorrow, would he be hired by another organization to be GM within a year? Would he get serious interviews? Has he developed the connections and respect to get offers?

Meanwhile, the front office and its media minions want us to believe that trading a valuable pick in a deep draft makes sense because we got a bunch of future Phoenix swaps.

Brilliant move. We literally threw away a potential franchise altering pick for a bunch of depreciating assets that the league just retroactively broke. Stone should be fired today

He is 55-56 ......same year, 1 month older than Daryl......even Daryl is not finding the same Sixers clout with another organization.

Teams are either going for potential in young assistant GMs or they are going for a huge name that has won a chip, Ujiri, Myers, Presti etc etc....

But there are opportunities with College teams, you see Michael Malone going North Carolina, Adrian Woj going Bonaventure though.....Billy Donovan always has a place with his Gators.

3-2-1 lottery system updates, per @mikevorkunov:
    - System scheduled to be in place for 3 seasons through 2029 draft
    - "Draft credit system" seen as leading contender to take effect after that
    - Rules on teams not being able to pick first 2 years in a row or top-five 3 years in a row are backdated and apply to traded picks, meaning the Grizzlies' 2027 pick from Utah in Jaren Jackson Jr. trade would be capped at 6th overall
    - Adam Silver can fine a tanking team up to $10 million, force them to forfeit or transfer draft picks, reduce lottery odds, change draft positions, or suspend team officials

    Couldn't agree more:

U have to pay for round 1 and round 2 playoff games

U have to pay to watch several in-season games, including holiday games, even if you already have league pass.

the in-season tourney f#cks up the schedule and is just a meaningless cash grab.

I personally detest him for openly allying with this billionaire who bought the Blazers to shake down Portland for half a billion dollars in taxpayer money the city does not have, threatening to move the team.

Said that the game is a “highlights-based” sport better suited to in-game clips for social media.

Why has the clippers investigation taken so long?

Increasing the nba’s closeness and corruption with professional sports betting/online betting.

I can’t stand him…but I do agree with the new lotto system. I freaking hate tanking.

He's been a terrible comish--the biggest issue has been letting gambling get such a strong foothold in the sport, from letting casino owners buy teams like the Fertittas and the new Mavs owners, to embracing sports gambling in general. But I also disagree with most of his decisions regarding the rules/structure of the sport, and his inability to institute consistent, fair officiating. And I've also actually started to believe the draft lottery might truly be rigged, I'm not sure how they do it, but some of these things really stretch my belief that it's legitimate. Whether it is or not, it's crazy that "the draft is rigged" is almost just an accepted part of the discourse now, it shows how little the fans trust the league these days.

This isn’t about tanking. It is about the NBA being able to fix the results without looking incredibly suspect. When they give the Lakers, GSW, or other favorites a top pick they will say that the odds were even. This guy is a straight up gangster. The Congress should take away their monopoly exemption, although I don’t think it would harm them as much as MLB. The gambling connection is real and pervasive in all sports.

Any rule that gives Silver more power is bad.

All of the top prospects have significant weaknesses again. It's like a rerun of 2023. We might actually end up 1st and draft the next Risacher. I know Stone probably didn't know that when he made the trade but it really sucks that it played out that way.

He knew 2025 and 2026 were great drafts…and so did Brooklyn. It was a choice to pass on taking swings at a potential franchise changing prospects in two great consecutive drafts. Stone got played.

Not a fan of gambling ties with the NBA.

On the consistent, fair officiating, I think most of this should go to the teams and the players. There are some things that could get cleared up if refs were taught basic physics. That said, it is hard to officiate the game with as many good athletes as the NBA has, but then the players push the limits of what gets called every game. Some players flop. Some players grift. Some players will hold on every play as the refs won't call every hold. Analytics has taken a hold of the NBA. Teams use this data to push the limits of the rules. Other than adding a video ref to assess fouls at play stoppages, I just don't see training helping the on-court refs much.

I don't believe the draft is rigged. Hard for to believe the teams being rigged against would allow it. Randomness is not evenly spaced.

I don't see how he's done such a job where he wouldn't be considered.... He'd be a good fit for another cheap owner like Tilman. I think you give Stone more power than he actual has.
