I work with a lot of foreigners. my ancestors were Irish slaves, brought here by German owners. Eventually brought to Texas and for some reason it ended up in Jasper and Lufkin. this is a nation of immigrants. I actually am an advocate for closing off the border way more tightly, but I want those assets reassigned to office administration to make the amnesty and asylum programs faster. we aren’t ever going to be able to build a physical wall to keep people out, but we can address the cartels, we can increase border presence and use technology to help us out. but we have to do this seriously before we can waste a bunch of money deporting people. and at some point you have to draw up a schematic. Conceptually for me you boot out anybody with a felony and anybody that can prove gainful employment for over two years should be able to amnestied quickly. if you do those things, then you can begin to worry about truly trying to keep people out and deporting them if need be. I don’t think it should be an open door, but this idea that we are going to deport people while they are still able to stream in fairly easily is crazy. immigrants are generally not taking jobs from lazy Americans. But I do think the borders should have some control. Coyotes are rarely solo actors. And more often not they are related to cartels or other gangs. We should be going full board to shut that crap down.
Most Democrats are unwilling to deport illegals who commit welfare fraud. Democrats are unwilling to deport people who have committed TWO crimes -- crossing illegally AND welfare fraud. Why have Democrats lost their minds? Honestly, what sane person would want to keep someone in this country who is both an illegal alien and a welfare fraudster? GOOD DAY

Onerous terms for indentured servitude for Irish immigrants were apparently pretty common in the early-mid 19th century. My mother's father's family was apparently brought to Tennessee on such a contract at one point from Ireland. in the retelling, indentured servant often gets simplified to "slave" for the sake of the tale.
Very different from the Trans-Atlantic slavery we think of when we use the word, “slave” in America. There was a term to it…not lifelong…and it didn’t bind your children to the same. Makes me uncomfortable when Irish-Americans say, “stop complaining, we were slaves too!” There’s a good book called “How the Irish Became White” you might enjoy.
Our history is always being white washed. We shouldn't ignore mistreatment of anyone, but the whataboutism is tiring. I can't imagine what it is to be black in America and see $1.8B set aside for Trump's allies, when reparations for Slavery were never given and how black people have been unfairly targeted by the Justice system since the country was founded.

But they called it fake, and she was detained, handcuffed, shackled at the ankles, interrogated, and ultimately transported to South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile.
