Cleaning house won't do anything as both OKC and SAS have young cores in their 20s. Meanwhile teams like Mavs, Wizards and Jazz have alreadt gotten started at rebuilding and have or will have their young studs already.

Do you have a 10 yr timeline for sucking or something?

This year the Rockets should just run it back and see where they end up, in 2027 all the contracts will expire and thats the time to see where they are at.

We only rebuilt for 3 years but like the other people here sure double the years so you can cry more. Next year you will say we have been rebuilding for 7 years amirite even if next year is the 4rth year we have ahad a positive record and we have had 2 50 win seasons already. That's why there can never be an objective discourse here everybody just makes **** up to try to prove their point.

It’s a nice thought imagining Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama guarding Jabari Smith Jr out at the 3 point line and opening up the paint but it’s delusional at this point.

Jabari still takes 18 foot turnarounds with 6’2 point guards on him.

There’s no world where Jabari becomes such a problem down low that you can’t just put a wing on him. It’s just not there.

More likely they just put their Shai and Dylan Harper on Jabari to stand next to him, get some rest and rip him if he tries to dribble.

Put their center on Thompson or someone else. Not to mention how Jabari at center actually looks defensively when we’re not in fantasy land.

Sengun is also a better stretch 5 prospect than Jabari.

You are talking about a stretch 5 so why are you complaining Jabari isn't backing down people in the low post? That's like the opposite of a stretch 5. Chet also doesn't back down people because he is skinny AF the diff is he is more accurate than Jabari with his jumpers. Jabari just needs to work on his shot mechanics if he can increase his 3s to 40% he will be elite at his role already. Jabari is doing his job as the stretch guy, if Amen can be taken out by the center then thats his fault for not having any range not Jabari. Because he can't shoot 3s, the opposing center can still clog the paint negating the advantage the stretch guy provides.

There are fringe types without the extreme size, rebounding bully ball game such as Chet, Porzingis, Myles Turner.

I’d argue even these are a level up physically and see more mismatch problems you face putting a small forward size guy on them vs putting 1 on Jabari.

And even those guys have only succeeded at the 5 with elite talent 1-4 with 4 fast shooters that can create their own and be worse mismatches for an opposing center to take on. OKC, 24’ Celtics, 25’ Pacers.

Brook Lopez, Embiid, Jokic types aren’t as reliant on roster construction, they’re just too big that you have to have your biggest rim protector on them. If anyone tries to not do that they immediately go to a post up and punish it.

Seems like our ceiling is more

    1992 Cleveland Cavaliers

    or

    2015 Atlanta Hawks

also: if FVV is the answer like he thinks he is, we’re asking the wrong question

Salary matching is roughly 75% of salary minimum..

KD's salary is $43.9m meaning a team has to send out at minimum $32.925m (+/- $100k).

We’re not catching OKC or San Antonio anytime soon.

We are like 1M under the first apron bro we cant send out more than we take in. The salary cap increases by like 7% but so does the salary of everyone else and we still need to resign Tari.

Well first of all Embiid and Jokic are MVP level players on top of being stretch 5s. Why are you even talking about them Jabari is just a stretch 4 he isnt even an all star.

Brook Lopez is old AF and about to retire, he is a vet with decades of experience so why compare him with 23 yr old Jabari? Give Jabari 5 more years he will be more skilled and polished than today. Porzingis and Turner are the same, they are in their 30s so yeah they would prob be better than Jabari right now.

Chet is better than Jabari but he also makes more than Jabari, almost 2x salary. Chet is also an all star and max player so yeah, not a surprise he is better than Jabari.

    You got it backwards.

If we send out more than we take in, we create more space under the apron.

If we take in more than we send out, we go over the apron.
