With what they have, after watching OKC, and Spurs.
There not even on the level with Denver or Minnesota.
Trading back a value pick in 2026 Draft.

Problem : They have no Franchise level player to build a team around

    - Do you expect a rebuild in NEXT few years after caving in and throwing away this team on old farts failed attempts to win around Durant?
    - Running back and Running it back with pointless changes.

Outcome : Having soft exits in the first round.

What year will be the next rebuild?

It's really too hard to tell. I think it all depends on this offseason. Stone is in trouble if he can't pull off a trade for star player in their prime without giving up too many of the current players. For example, he could excite the fanbase if he can trade for Jaylen Brown while keeping Sengun and Amen. If you have a team next year with FVV/Brown/Durant/Amen/Sengun then that would be an interesting team to watch.

If Stone can't pull a trade for a top-tier player with some youth then he's done for and the rebuild will start sooner than 2030 under new management.

No, we don't need to trade for an older star...and we don't need to sell EVERYONE off for picks.
    Again...right now...no waiting.
We keep Amen, Jabari, and Reed.....
Everyone else goes out for young quality players and picks.
Also, in a perfect world, Ime is gone. Stone too.
In their place, highly competent top notch guys.
Along with the overhaul comes a new player development system.
    But, hey...who am I kidding?
None of this is going to happen.
    We're held hostage.

My thoughts are that the management group feels the team is better than it really is.

Another injury to a key player just moves the timeline back again ....

We're going to go thru at least another season or two of this before they realize these guys just don't measure up to the 2nd tier of teams, much less the top tier teams SA and OKC who are light years ahead of the rest.

When will they figure out they aren't good enough? I don't know, that depends on who beats them. If it's OKC, SAS it'll take longer, if it's another first round exit against the Sun's or Clippers - maybe they wake up and realize it a little sooner.

I don't know why I expect which team beats them to matter - a broken Lakers team or an old and injured GSW wasn't enough ....

    This is basically it.

I think there is a good chance for the Rockets to take a step back in 2027 trade deadline or offseason so I put that.

I think the Rockets are going to milk Kevin Durant’s tenure here since its a business to them. Whatever im fine with that as long as we keep all of out draft picks.

Of course. The Rockets aren't going to trade Durant unless they go full tilt rebuild as he won't likely get a great pick, though he might get 2 or 3 late FRPs.

Starting in 2027, I want the Rox to showcase/inflate the value of the talent we have, and then be open to trading anyone on the roster, as long as the team overpays.

Basically put a "make me move" sign out in front of each players house.

Each year, try to get one desperate team to overpay at the deadline. Then try to stockpile picks in the '30s, with an emphasis on the years that have the closest thing to generational talent (according to the scouting dept).

With the second apron rules, both OKC and the Spurs will run into roster problems in 2027/28 seasons. I am a fan who says to enjoy the current young core and hope we have a resurgence at some point… the average fan on this board would have traded Olajuwon in 1990 and missed the 94/95 back to back championships.

You are trying to gaslight, there is no one on this roster in the same stratosphere as 1 leg Hakeem, Akeem, the Dream, or even pajamas era old man Olajuwon

its not going to be this year.

rockets want to sell tickets and KD is box office.\

that + having franchise Fred in tow, its going to be impossible to get in the door.

Man, SCREW KD, I don't give 2 ***** for his personal records, he didn't do them as a Rocket.

He is a cancer holding this team back, he has to go.

I don’t gaslight. I meant what I said. Spurs and OKC will have to gut their rosters after next year due to the current CBA - it will be like Denver’s roster. We should hold steady and not tear things down like the “board” - which seems to have lost its collective mind - would have us do. Do you even remember 1990? Olajuwon and the Rockets almost parted ways… the version of clutchfans we have right now would have 10 threads about trading Hakeem and starting over. I don’t think we have an Alpha among the young guys, but that is no reason to tank and start over.

If they strike out in the 2027 draft then I can see them trading some players for picks and look to reset.

I think the whole Phase 3 was not well thought out and well researched .....

We are still in the dark after the 'Pray for Victor' fiasco......as what type of future Superstar the Almighty Tilman had in mind.

This is ridiculous, OKC and Spurs have their core of 3-4 and they are using the picks to stay relatively cheap with the role players.

They will probably get out of the contracts of Barnes/Fox.......and Dort/Hartenstein/Wiggins.......

But I am sure the drop off would not be as great as you make it out to be long term.
