I doubt the 76ers are going to trade Maxey, he's too young and has shown too much for them to move on, despite all of their other problems. These kinds of trades rarely happen, meaning trades involving a young star who is already in the vicinity of being a #1 option. But if he were available I would pay a very large haul for him. Maxey/Amen/Jabari is a trio you can build around and at least have some hope. If we could somehow add a starting-caliber stretch big to that, we'd really be in business.

I don't think it will happen though.

Grimes might be a pickup for the Rockets. There’s no chance of obtaining Maxey or VJE.

    A very drastic offseason plan:

    HOU in
    Trey Murphy III
    OG Anunoby
    Ryan Rollins
    Myles Turner

    NOP in
    Fred VanVleet (expiring)
    Multiple first-round picks

    NYK in
    Kevin Durant

    MIL in
    Alperen Sengun

We end up with this roster:

    Rollins/Sheppard (or vice-versa)
    Thompson/Sheppard (or Rollins)
    Murphy/Smith Jr
    Anunoby/Smith Jr
    Turner/Adams/Capela

Every player in the rotation except Thompson, Adams, and Capela is a high-volume 3P shooter and most of them shoot high percentages. Most of the rotation is comprised of true two-way players. Most players can create for themselves at least somewhat. The team overall gets younger, despite losing Sengun.

The team still lacks a true #1A player, but I think on overall talent and roster construction is in the second tier of playoff teams and can compete with OKC/San Antonio minus their best player if we happen to get that lucky in playoff matchups. We retain (I would think) most of our draft capital to keep hunting for that "franchise player".

I think Sengun is worth more than Rollins and Turner. Milwaukee should kick in something of value to the Pels. But creative trade for sure.

I don’t think adding OG, Murphy and Turner minus KD and Sengun (and Fred) makes us a contender. I think it definitely improves the team, but I’d rather save some 1st round picks than rent OG and Turner just to pretend to compete. I would do Murphy and another good asset for Sengun and KD (and Fred). I’m fine giving Sengun another season to show shooting progress. But also fine moving him for a package that brings back picks and really good young players like Murphy.

Cason Wallace is a guy I feel like teams should be targeting for trade. He’s a very underrated player; the kind of 2-way player we need. I was a big fan of his that draft. Excellent shooter although I believe he had a down shooting yr this season. Not sure what it would take to pry him from OKC but I doubt they can afford him. He just made 2nd team All Defense.

I haven’t taken a whack at a trade proposal in a few days…. Here is my build around Amen while assuming KD reconciles any differences with his teammates. so we still have a slight hope of trying to win Big the next couple years, but we maintain an eye on the future.

    To Miami
    Sengun
    FVV
Future 2031 First top 8 protected

    To Houston
Herro (Signs 4 year 140 million extension with player option after 3 year and team after 4th)
    Davion Mitchell
    Kel’el Ware
Some contract that goes to Milwaukee

    To Milwaukee
A cap matching contract from Miami
    Capela
    DFS

    To Houston
    Myles Turner

    Bring back Okogie and Eason

    Turner/Ware/Adams
    Smith/Eason
    Durant/Eason
    Herro/Okogie
    Amen/Reed/Davidson

    Bucks in
    Sengun
    Salary matching from detroit

    Rockets in
    Turner
    Ausar

    Pistons in
    Giannis
    Picks?

Fill this out with whatever salary detroit needs to add. There is a way they can make cap space. Add picks as appropriate.

Why for us? We seem to have 2 issues. The pairing of Amen and Sengun as neither shoot. The pairing of Reed and Sengun defensively.
As much as I love Sengun he is the common issue.
Ausar obviously doesn't solve the shooting issue but he and Amen playing defense protects Reed meaning we can have him on the floor more often which will help the shooting.
Turner is not fantastic but he can shoot.
Fill out the roster by making sure everyone else can shoot if their surname isn't Thompson.

The resulting roster suits Ime better and getting the Thompsons together will improve their morale. Whether you rate Amen or not it is clear those in charge view him as the main man long term so keep him happy and make the roster fit.

Charlotte seems like a good trade partner for Sengun. They have some young talent, all their FRPs. AND marginal larger talent.

    Something like

    Out Sengun

In Miles Bridges and Kon Knurpple plus 2 FRPs

This is actually the type of team to build around Sengun and Amen imo.

Replace Sengun with Smith JR and take out Myles Turner.

    Ryan Rollins
    Amen Thompson
    Trey Murphy
    OG
    Sengun

OG is one of my favorite players, I like Andrew Wiggins as an alternate target.

Most disagree but something similar to Jabari for a Ryan Rollins type deal would be great. Would be interested in the same idea for a VJ Edgecombe or Scoot Henderson.

I like Trey Murphy but think the price tag is too high. A Cedrick Coward or Max Christie might be better targets. Donte Divencenzo would have been great pre injury.

Id be looking to bring Tari Eason back.

I’d want enough good POA defenders that you can put Amen Thompson in the Jabari Smith Jr safety, weak side help, late switch, and rebounding position. Use his grab and go game to speed us up.

    How about

    Christian Wood
    Jabari Smith JR
    Bol Bol
    Myles Turner
    Kel’el Ware

Is that enough tall, make 3, block shot or we need John Collins too

To really maximize Amen over the next couple seasons we do need post players that can stretch the floor. Smith could almost be the five if the person next to him compensated for his deficiencies.

as an example, he is an above average defensive rebounder so we need somebody next to him that can also shoot but can block a few shots and grab a few offensive rebounds. neither player should be defending anybody on the perimeter, but Smith is not terrible at this.

Viable targets include Ware, Turner or maybe Reid. Dre’s targets include Jokic or Towns. Every single option comes with their own set of deficiencies, but we absolutely need more spacing.

Would Sengun, filler and both 2027s, and a 2029 first round there be enough if Denver has decided that their window is closed. Bring back Eason and Okogie.

    Jokic/Adams/Smith as needed
    Smith/Eason
    Durant
    Amen/Okogie
    Reed/FVv/Davidson

There’s no chance of obtaining Kon. Miles plus one future FRP might be the best that the Rockets can get from the Hornets for Sengun.

I am not crazy about Miles Bridges because of his record as a human.

but if we could somehow get bridges and Miller for Sengun and a draft pick I would weigh that pretty heavily. that hits them hard on the perimeter, but they have other options and they will have decent draft picks to fill that spot out.

    Smith/Adams
    Durant/Eaon
    Bridges/Okogie
    Miller/Reed
    Amen/FVV

I think that that D would probably not be amazing, but at least there’s a good bit of length. The offense Ininagine would be top five in the NBA and you have some legit defenders coming off the bench for variety
