I don't like the fit between Claxton and Amen; if we're going for a long-term investment in a younger center, it almost has to be a stretch 5 unless you're moving on from Amen too.
I've been looking at those guys in this draft - I think there are two, one very under rated. Henri Veesaar was kinda under the radar for a while, now I hear a team has guaranteed to pick him in the first round. I'm really wondering what team that is ... but he can shoot from everywhere, is a very under rated interior passer and can defend the rim. The other guy is way down the prospect list is an international prospect from Serbia - Pavle Backo, 6'11" 260. Check out this video from the U18 Euro basket.
Sengun/DFS/Capela/2027 picks/2029 picks for Jokic. Jokic/Adams Smith/Eason Durant/Eason Amen/Reed FVV/Davidson
Ime needs a new role within the franchise before we make any decisions about the future. Trades that yield future value will never happen because he will get in the way because he is a win now at all cost personally. I do think he adds value to the team. Ime has a problem with prospective, no matter the situation he has the SAME solution. Long term effects are with a positive spin. Amen WILL be a better player because of his playing time this season. His expectations for being a lead guard will seriously affect his performance for the rest of his career in a positive way. The game changed for him. NOW put him at the 3 and watch him dominate. The game will seem like slow motion & he is STILL a freakish defensive beast. Reed will always be more than just a shooter and defense is priority in his mind because of Ime. The addition of KD has help Jaylen the most. Just the rub has taken Smith to a new level. Jaylen was supposed the 1st overall pick and was thrown to wolves then over the years told to blend in. He is the highest rated player from the draft we have. AND he gets a better every year. If coached what do have in him. I am not sure how he has helped Sengun. Without knowing the specifics of what is offered it’s hard to believe that we would be able to get more than we have already. Ime needs to expand his staff and let them guide us through the true development of our players.
Any interest in Klay Thompson? DFS and the Rockets two 2026 second rounders for Klay? Having him and Reed coming off the bench next year could give this team the shooting it needs. FVV/Reed Amen/Klay KD/Okogie Bari/Tari Sengun/Adams
So FVV’s contract (once he opts into it) is exactly the same as Trey Murphy III’s contract (25 mil). Let’s keep it simple: FVV and 3 FRPs for TM. Then extend Eason. Amen / TM / Durant / Smith / Sengun with Sheppard, Eason, DFS, and Adams off the bench. Post-Durant: Sheppard / Amen / TM / Smith / Sengun with Eason as sixth man.
A couple KD trades that I think are fairly realistic: KD to the Pistons for Duncan Robinson, Caris LeVert, pick 2021 and a future lottery protected 1st (get some shooting and bench scoring add some picks to a slower build around the young guys) KD to the Heat for Pick 13, Wiggins, and Jovic's horrible ass contract (get a great pick in this draft, and a really solid 3 and D vet wing in Wiggins) KD to the Hornets (would be apt considering what he said in the Dickerson Files about the Hornets young guys being better than the Rockets) for pick 14, pick 18, Grant Williams, Josh Green, Tre Mann (get two good picks and some bench depth)
oh dang, I put the wrong name down, my bad. I meant to type Grant Williams and just straight brain farted. I'll fix it
Here's one I could see: Hou in: Derrick White Sam Hauser Pick #27 Bos in: Kevin Durant Derrick White had a terribly down shooting year and a poor playoffs last season which has hurt his brand, especially given the contract, but he is still an on/off monster -- exactly the type of player the Rockets FO loves. Hauser also a great on/off guy who fills that rotation shooter role while semi holding up defensively. Boston has had a longstanding interest in KD, and from what I understand the interest has been mutual, at least in the past.
What the "run-it-back" route might look like: Capela and DFS and our lotto protected 2028 for Ty Jerome [saves 11M] FVV opt out and resign 16M per (2yrs) Tari 16M per Full MLE [15.1M] now available. All in on Grimes? Split between Keon Ellis and Ty Jones? [10M before apron] BAE available Vet min to Gary Trent Jr 2RPs = Luigi Suigo [C] and Bruce Thornton [PG] (both on 2 ways) Leaves abour 1 vet min worth of wiggle room. FVV / Jones / Davison / Thornton Jerome / Sheppard / Trent Sengun / Adams / BAE? / Suigo Durant / Smith / Thompson / Eason / Ellis Pro: Much better depth and shooting and another perimeter creation threat. In theory offers more rest for KD during the season. Con: Doesn't really move the needle overall, basically window dressing. Totally reliant on seeing how far improved health and shooting can take us. Very reliant on Amen taking a major step forward. Smith relegated after a good year [skill redundancies]. Possibly very weak defensively in that starting lineup.
Throw it against the wall… Mavs In Alpi Easton Out Kyrie, Washington, Livey why new coach new team around Flagg 76ers In Kyrie & PJ Washington Out Maxey, Grimes why filling in with better players Rox In Maxie, Grimes, Livey Out Alpi Eason (s&t) why balance
If there is a world where this is even remotely possible, DOO EEEET *Let's be fair, there is no world where the 76ers sit back and think that replacing Maxey with Kyrie is "filling in with better players
He really shouldn't be. If PatStoneDoka have a competent bone between them, they'll get whatever they can for him right now. Running it back with KD a) Has absolutely no chance of delivering us a championship b) After KD played the 2nd most minutes in NBA, will probably result in him having a major injury and losing all his trade value There is no point whatsoever in keeping him on this team. But since we have incompetent leadership up top, you are probably right that we'll just keep him and plow forward as though 30-something, coming-off-major-surgery FVV and Adams are the key to a championship formula.
