If we can’t get a top 5 pick for Sengun he doesn’t have the value around the league most of us fans thought. He’s 23 yrs old and has two all star appearances. If that’s the case that’s a sad commentary on where this team is after 6 yrs of rebuilding. And why don’t we have a pick in this draft anyway? Sad commentary. Very sad.
Thing is there a little impatient people here. You need a young group to roll with, the players they have are still developing. Most people need a quick fix so quickly they can't take. Lot of people need to find patience. The one thing there is still lot of money opening up in few years , with Durant + and hoping FVv leaving..around this group, and possibility of drafting a young stud in next year draft with 27 first nets swap. Still have chance to find the right formula, even around Amen + Sengun. You never know what signings and or trades around them can work.
I wouldn't call it a quick fix as much as the guys who are developing are asking for money as if they're developed. Even if the prospect has the potential, lot of us don't think the infrastructure to develop them on pace with the rest of league. It's not knee jerk reaction as we're about half a decade into the process now (from silas to Ime). The Jalen draft class was 2020, it's year 2026. The plateau is showing. When we say replace some of the players, maybe front office, or maybe coaching, it's not a quick fix at all. Quite the opposite, an overhaul like that is drastic. Risky and might not pay off, but the current vision is not great. I'm getting old with more grey hair than 6 years ago , these 10-year Stone experiments is expensive.
Yes, impatient fools. Let’s wait 10 yrs to find a franchise player…or get past the 1st round. Folks who are concerned about the direction of the team 6 yrs in are so knee jerk.
I think the opposite of most of yall. We need to add not replace. We need a coaching staff more than one new person. We need a group that works together to make system. This new system should be focused on improving performance and development of our team. New coaches/teachers not just one is needed to achieve this goal. Let Ime stay until he gets in the way of the process, then redirect him into the front office till he quits or fired form his own actions. Ime has done nothing wrong other than not having/using his staff.
I agree but believe me ,.they want to stay relevant.. That's why the team they have won 52 games back to back. Maybe Durant had something major with driving the young guns, as well as Jalen, FVv and Brooks. But as a youth movement, they are still relevant, just need to find the right players to add. Im assuming Stone is hoping they learn from Durant, and Fred in the now. But down the road will these young core be revelvant when they are gone? What picks , players , and or free agents will be added in 3-4!years when these players start approaching there primed you know 26-27 years of age! Will it be enough to be a Finals Candidate. Or.atleast an western conference finals appearance n against the spurs/okc would be nice Probably not...
I'm done waiting 4 years for player X to take a leap .... The longer you wait, hoping for that leap, the less they are worth. I'm not concerned with trading a flawed player and he suddenly blows up somewhere else. Amen can't shoot and really has no offensive bag, he kills spacing - they had 6 dudes around him shooting above 35% and couldn't make it work. Reed can't stay in front of a traffic cone .... Tari has no left hand, no touch around the rim, is really just low IQ and he comes with that monster ... I mean momster. Sengun provides nothing as a defender, can't shoot FT's, doesn't particularly shoot well from anywhere either and cries all the damn time. None of them are gonna take much of a leap, I'm done with waiting for it, They won't do it but all of them need to be moved for picks be that in this years or 2-3 years away.
I don’t think people understand how difficult it is to rebuild. Nothing is guaranteed so in essence you’re banking on being able to win after 4 or 5 more years of rebuilding? Or maybe more? Look at the Kings. Took them 8 years to finally make the playoffs again. Then they tore that team apart after 2 years and are back to square one. If we retain Smith and Amen and force them to go thru this painful rebuild they would be in their late 20’s. And teams need a few years to grow at least 2 maybe 3 to become contenders. That’s 6-8 years of mediocrity and pain with zero guarantees. They would be 30 at that point. And think about the Multiple iterations of teams and maybe coaches. Lottery players or highly touted ones aren’t even guaranteed to pan out. Do Rockets fans really want that reality?
Ironically, not wishing for anything can be disastrous as well.... My take is that I'd rather go down swinging rather than wait and hope for my opponent to get tired. The waiting game (being idle) can either be the cause or the cure of what ails the Rockets! (being stuck in mediocre-ville). It remains to be seen, if the person swinging (Tilly in this case) has the CAJONES to face the issue head on.... I personally am hoping that Tilly isn't a closeted eunuch!!!! ....... ....... .......
One more year is one more wasted year after 32 years of not making the Finals. Tilman was supposed to spend and get us back on track instead we are back tracking!
Kidd could be the answer. He and some of his staffers maybe the best solution. Let him come in as operation coordinator. Move makes Ime feel uncomfortable and he move on.
Amen is my favorite player on the team. Simultaneously, he's very difficult to build a winning team around. It's just nearly impossible to hide more than one non-shooter in the playoffs in the modern NBA. That means to field Amen on the court, we really need a center who can spread the floor. There aren't a lot of those guys. I hate to say it - but I think Amen should be very touchable. I think nobody on the roster should be safe. But I want to add that they need to back off the idea of trading for post-prime, oft-injured vets like Giannis and Kawhi. Honestly though, I just don't see a path to building a team that can contend with SA or OKC right now. We're too far away. And Wemby may just be the GOAT when it's all said and done. Lovely that we may have to get through him for the next 10+ years.
You don't clean house, you fine players that bind everyone together, who will be our Mario Ellie that makes the whole greater than the sum, you fill in the holes you have - Creativity on the bounce, and 3pt shooting, and you hit go. There is no need to panic, one or two players can make everyone fit better into a role they thrive in.....just keep chopping wood. DD
I definitely don't want any older, declining stars either. That is the opposite direction of the way we should be headed. On Wemby - As good as he is, I dont trust him to stay healthy. But, yeah...he's pretty incredible. No doubt about it. And now that we gift wrapped Castle for them...they are the team to beat for years if healthy. Amen was playing out of position all year. Put him off ball as the secondary ball handler, with a good PG...and we'll see him impacting the game GREATLY on both sides of the ball again. IMO, Amen is barely scratching the surface of what he'll ultimately become. He's a unique combination of cerebral and physical gifts. As to a 5, they might be rare...but we need an eraser inside, who can also stick the J. It should be a priority.
Wemby had a blood clot situation in 2025 just as Whitmore had one..... Things can change quickly, so better win that Chip now and worry about things later. With the emergence of Castle, Champagnie and Harper, they could in theory still win 50 Games without him now.
