What are the things the Rockets NEED to be successful next year? 1. Attitude. The Rockets Need a Bully. Several if you ask me. I think they should bring Dillion Brooks back (I was not a fan when he 1st came but he won me over) I like ALP. Aman. Jabari. KD. Reed. Unfortunatley they are choir boys. They are soft. I think the most important thing we missed this year was attitude. WE . . WERE . . .SOFT!!! We missed Adams as much if not more than FVV. A this poing (which is counter to half the next point) I would not be mad at a Zion Type [keep him away from the buffet table] 2. Height and Muscle - I think we going to have to muscle and bully the Wemby's of the world Jordan Rules Style 3. PG - FVV or whoever - we need them and a competent backup -- of course this means offensive sets and schemes Rocket River
Sell high on Amen, sell mid on Sengun, see what you can recoup for the Katie Dickerson disaster. Let Tari walk or do a s&t if a team is foolish enough to offer sheet him. Move all the dead weight older guys on the roster for either young misfit players with potential upside or even more draft capital. Give ourselves as many rolls of the dice of hitting an ACTUAL star player young enough to build around and go from there.
Yeah, get the veterans out of here, get back into the 2026 draft, make the 2nd round picks and such and try to find some hidden gems. See what the offers are on the younger players, pull the trigger if/when somebody offers a haul but don't be impatient on that aspect of it. We're in the same situation right now we were in those years GSW was so dominant--except instead of having a late 20s James Harden playing at an MVP level, we have a late 30s Kevin Durant who is probably outside the top 10 at this point. Anyone who thinks this roster is going anywhere before KD retires is delusional.
I can live with that. Alternatively, let Ime go and have another look at the players for one more season. If there is no FP, start over then.
Yeah if they moved Ime I'd be more than happy to give the players one last shot to show star potential. If not though why flog a dead horse any more than we have to? We don't develop talent, Amen's unlikely to all of a sudden have this huge shooting leap when the "generational shooters" we drafted can't even sustain what they had before they got here. Sengun's plateaued. New coaching staff? Sure, give them one last crack at it. Stuck with Ime? Move them on and force ownership to replace his ass when he's got no vets propping up his fraudulent style of ball.
Rockets really have a no chance tbh. Just sell tickets with Durant and winning team. But when the playoffs come they are quick exit.
Fraudulent style for sure. I'm no expert but feels like Ime's holding them younglings back. Open to seeing what they can do with another coach who has an offensive bag. It's almost always a bs statement when you forecast the future. But yeah, agreed on Sengun plateauing. Not good enough. Let's see what Amen can turn into in a year or two. I don't buy the CF hype. Reminds of JG, Sengun hype. Don't have much hope.
Watching us in the 1st round and now watching the WCF, I think it’s obvious that our #1 need is… A miracle….
At first I was wanting several trades to revamp the roster but after last nights game I think we should see where the Nets27 & Phx27' lands and possibly try to build through the draft. Only thing I'd do probably is just try to trade for Ty Jerome with Tari S&T or DFS + 2nds and sign some bench depth. Let Ime & FVV fall on their faces next year so we can hopefully be done with those two. See if anybody makes a leap and pray the the Nets & Phx picks hit. I'd hold onto Sengun to try to trade up in next years draft a little more or cash in for more picks. I'd see where those picks land and start selling the farm accordingly to what we need
I only posted that because i like to screw with the different posters on clutchfans that post incessantly about singular players negatively. harden/jalengreen/amen/sheppard etc. im probably messing with people on the spectrum from time to time though.
Its all good. Im not sure anything matters at this point. This team has so many problems I dont think any one thing could fix them. We are likely not an "Amen Thompson" leap away from contention. The fish rots from the head down sorta thing.
I think stone is a pretty good gm. The rockets didn’t trade the rights away for Cade victor or Flagg. Sometimes you just don’t get that player. If they play their cards right they could still get a player like that the next 5 years. Trading for Durant really was not smart though.
I think Amen grows into a superstar, eventually. It may take several years and a different coach (team). The roster construction sucks and will take years to fix. Trade everyone but Amen and Jabari and tank for another 4 years is probably the only way out, unless we get a gift from another crappily run organization.
