Obviously you are not watching the playoffs! Ayton and Hayes, who are considered avg at best centers, played over the top of Sengun. And with their SIZE, they clogged the lanes and forced the Rockets into a jump shooting team. In the Spurs and Thunder series, the Spurs guards are able to frustrate SGA with their SIZE and LENGTH. Its not that Ayton is better than Sengun or that Harper, Vessell and others are better than SGA, its just that they have SIZE and they are able to matchup better and offset their effectiveness with size.
Sengun's qualities are effective in the regular season, its the playoff matchups that negate his effectiveness. ALL, I repeat, ALL good teams have length. And unfortunately, thats who you're going to see in the playoffs.
Can anybody imagine Sengun guarding Wemby last night? Ill answer it for you, HELL NO! I wanted Ware in the draft, because I thought that he would be a perfect fit next to Sengun, however Stone elected to draft 6'1 Reed Sheppard, the next STEPH CURRY. Lol Seriously, I think Ware has the length to matchup with Wemby. Not as talented as Wemby but I think defensively he matches him well. There will ALWAYS be somebody who can match up.....THE GM JUST HAS TO FIND HIM
We could trade for one if there is untapped talent, ala Harden, but Stone isn’t good enough to do that.
I it isn’t size it is skill, and chemistry, GS won being small for years, we just need to find a way so our pieces all fit. And, get a new coach. DD
The game has changed since then. Skill matters but most, if not all teams were playing SMALL BALL then. Now its about length.
It's both, It's skilled players that happen to have size. But, honestly that's for the role players. What really matters is having that elite unstoppable superstar. Sometimes, especially in the playoffs, you can't move the ball and get a great shot. Sometimes you just have to give it to your best player and they just make something happen. Down the stretch Wemby did that and even though SGA was having a rough night he did that too. I agree with others here. Tear it down and get as many picks as possible. Sure another front office could do better on the margins but it really doesn't matter if you get the right star. I could coach Wemby into the western conference finals.
whole league know it's over, no one stopping spurs there is no team that can be made or drafted to handle what the spurs are now.
I agree to a certain extent but if the Rockets elected to tear it down, the one constant will still remain.....STONE! I just don't trust Stone's ability to make the right trades nor to draft the right players....He hasn't shown it yet. I said before the 2023 draft, we needed LENGTH, go back and look! I wanted Ware or Clingan, more Ware than Clingan but I think if we had either one, we could have at least won the Lakers series and felt better about the team, as a whole.
This is depressing thread. If only Fred would of played this year so Ime/Stone would of accepted that he isn't our franchise player.
HORSE **** - the game is the same. Chemistry matters, and you look like chicken little crying the sky is falling after 1 game. Yes, the Rockets don't quite fit together, but sometimes you just need to find that one piece that brings it all home. IMHO, that piece would be a creative dribble driving player - at a guard spot or forward spot. I think OKC screwed up by putting Caruso on Wemby and the Spurs put him on the block and played over him. The Rockets need to find some players that FIGHT and have skill, guys with a DOG mentality (which is another reason I liked Cam)..... If they add the proper pieces and don't panic this could all work out fine. DD
I disagree! They are good but there is always a CRYPTONITE. Its so FRUSTRATING but Stone is so basic and he refuse to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. I feel strongly, he looks at the internet/websites and go with the status quo. If I were the Rockets, I would target two players this offseason, Ware and Giddey. Miami is luke warm on Ware, he only avg 20 mins a game and Spolstra doesnt think he fits with Bam and Chicago is wavering on Giddey. Both players shoot over 35% from 3pt, both players add length and both players are YOUNG! I think Stone should look at a trade of Sengun to Chicago and look to trade Tari and a pick to Miami for Ware. C- Ware/Adams PF - Jabari/FA SF - KD/FA SG - Amen/Reed PG - Giddey/FVV To me thats a formidable lineup of size and shooting
Not getting political but you sound like a certain group of politicians, all talk but no plans. Lol Who is that player that will bring it all together, the creative dribble and drive player? Reed? FVV? The Rockets need a plan! The season is over and I still don't know what IDENTITY the Rockets where. Like I said, if Im Stone, moving forward, I would target bigger players. I would certainly keep Amen, Jabari and KD. Outside of that, Im open for business.
Doesnt Giddey fit the exact player profile you just mentioned?? Creative dribble driving player?? Plus he is over 35% from 3pt and he's 6'7.
