Sengun has no chance against Wemby. Not now. Not ever. But you can’t move him to 4 because he can’t shoot, which brings us to a simple conclusion: he needs to be traded.

If "stands a chance against Wemby" is the threshold for a starting center you gotta trade for Jokic or basically dissolve the team. Outside of the one huge block Chet (and Hartenstein) did nothing tonight.

Sengun is actually one of the very small number of players to completely snatch Wemby's chain in a head to head matchup, even though it was two years ago. Otherwise he's been OK in some of the H2H matchups.

But Chet can shoot, he was able to drag Wemby out of the paint. As long as Sengun is on the floor, Wemby can stay in the paint as long as he wants.

Sengun shot 15-37 when guarded by Ayton, and 9-24 when guarded by Jaxson Hayes

Sengun was not capable of dominating 2 scrub bigs

Ayton wasn’t even playable against OKC, but he was more than playable against Sengun

    he’s not a #1 option…he’s not even a reliable #2 option

and then on defense, a coach has to pull out all the stops just so he doesn’t get exposed

I hart is interesting because if he can’t be on the court when Wemby is out there he most likely is gone from OKC this summer

Wemby probably altered like 20 shots tonight in addition to his 44/21/3 and completely making Chet and IHart non-factors. If there's an opportunity to trade Sengun and improve the roster, that's great. But trading him to get Myles Turner or whatever to get ready for this hypothetical future series with the Spurs so Wemby alters 20 paint shots instead of 24 seems to be putting the cart way before the horse.

Also, up to this point the 8 highest point totals against Wemby have been Embiid twice, Sengun, and Jokic 5 times, which seems to indicate you need to bang with him to I guess have a chance. Sengun actually has the second most points against Wemby behind Jokic.

He also bent Wemby over when allowed to operate in the post and go at him so lol.

And no, this is not in any way a comment to be misconstrued that Sengun is on a level close to Wemby. It is simply pointing out when Sengun was allowed to play to his strength instead of being handicapped and played to his weakness like Udoka gets a hard on doing, he abused Wemby. (I would absolutely trade whatever it took in a package with Sengun for Wemby, before some clowns have an aneurism and a mental breakdown)

Fast forward to retirement then, bc I am not sure the Rockets can get him.

Basketball is a unique sport that it seems the minute you can get a 7'3+ guy in Europe who has basketball smarts can turn into a GOAT prospect......

It seems that the future are European prospects......
I have never seen a sport that can be dominated by height and length, we might need to move over to following Soccer.
At least a midget named Messi can be the GOAT.

His only weakness will be longevity given most players of his height rarely make it to 30. He is a bean pole so he could last a lot longer but our own Ralph Sampson, Wemby's closest comparison, did not make it very long..

Wemby going to be running the nba until he is at least 36, so sit back and enjoy seeing the spurs win every single finales until wemby is out for the season or he retires.

Of course the Spurs get another generational player via the draft. Meanwhile the Rockets havent had one since Hakeem

Realistically speaking he may be our best chance but he will need to improve his 3 pt shot to respectable level to have a chance.

Watching last night's game and listening to this conversation, what do you guys think about going after this guy in the draft... https://www.theringer.com/nba-draft/2026/big-board?view=deep-dive&positions=bigs

I know most of the draft discussion is about getting Acuff or Flemings, but maybe adding some ridiculous size to our line-up would be better in trying to compete with SAS and OKC. Mara's not a perfect prospect, but has elite measurements at 7'3" barefoot and 9'9" standing reach (tied for 2nd in Combine history), can provide rim protection/defensive anchor we need, and is a very good passer.

He's projected in the 10-15 range, which is likely an easier spot for us to trade into.

    What do y'all think?

Nah yours is the flawed memory, you're trying to use outdated examples, this is before Wemby grew up as a player. A LOT has changed since then. Sengun's regressed whilst Wemby's an MVP candidate level player now.

Sengun stans still holding onto a game from 2 years ago

Sengun hasn’t gotten any better since then while Wemby is making his argument for best player in the league

I bet you Sengun comes into year 6 still not able to shoot, make free throws, or finish at the rim

but hey, he’ll drop 37 against the Kings in March with 4 made threes and I’m sure people will be on here talking about how he’s “figured it out”

" Anything beyond dunking or laying the ball up can be rough, as he mostly shot left-shoulder hook shots over the top of the defender (a shot that is always available for him). Shoots line drives most of the time on those hooks. On the rare occasion he does launch from 3, the motion is slow but doesn’t have a glaring hitch. I don’t think he totally lacks touch, however—his passing touch is really impressive, both from lower angles and over the top. I’m doubtful his shot ever migrates to the “strengths” section, but he’ll have to work hard to turn the tide."

I dunno. Will he be Mark Eaton?

No single player right now can effectively guard Wemby.

It will take multiple people and schemes to do so.

Of all people, I did see Caruso a few times box Wemby out well and cover him.
