Today is a textbook example of why Joe needs to go.

    1) after 12.1 innings from the SP the past 2 games leaving the bullpen in great desperation, he leaves Lambert in for the 7th.

Just take the Quality Start and don't risk the health and confidence of your starting pitcher.

    2) With 4 or 5 of your starting position players out injured he gives Paredes a day off.

I'm sorry, but Paredes is 27 years old and does not play a position like SS or OF that requires extensive running. Pena and Meyers are almost ready to return; Isaac's day off can wait another couple of days.

When you have Salazar starting you must have your 8 best hitters available in the other 8 spots.

When Allen is starting you must have your best 8 hitters in the other 8 spots.

You can start Salazar or Allen - never both. Its giving up before the game even starts.

    Terrible and so frustrating.

He should have been gone in the off-season.

Phillies update for the "changing managers doesn't make a difference" crowd:

    Phillies with old manager: 9-19
    Phillies with new manager: 15-4

Who would be on the list to replace him this offseason?

So crazy because this also happened when they fired Girardi and promoted Thomson.

Yeah, sometimes its just a matter of a different voice or different approach, etc.

This was the lineup he rolled out after preaching about not being complacent after just winning the series, and trying to go for the sweep.

It's been well past the time. Should've fired him after last season.

They should fire him, but Dana Brown needs to go too. As soon as the draft is done Brown needs to go.

After the draft, there is the trade deadline which is another area that, theoretically Brown should excel at.

And if you keep him for the draft and deadline, you might as well keep him until the season ends.

New GM or PBO as soon as possible after the season ends.

Then hire a new manager and decide on the rest of the MLB staff.

Then new PBO/GM does deep dive into the rest of the organization and decide what to gut and what to keep.

Yeah, I dont want Dana doing any trade deadline deals given his track record in this area and a couple of deals need to be made.

At this point I don't trust Dana to run the draft or trade deadline, but I can understand the case for waiting until end of season to let him go. Espada on the other hand needs to go yesterday...Omar should get as long of an audition as possible, give the new GM something to consider before next season.

    The narrative.

The Cubs got a free pass trading for Chapman as well.

Nightengale is really going out on a limb on that one.

He excelled in Atlanta, Montreal and Toronto.

Brown was doing this as well in Atlanta.

Sure- I don't see anything that makes me believe that Brown is a master at organization or overseeing a large group of multiple people in the way that Luhnow, Dombrowski or Neander is.

However -- what IS coming up are the things Brown is elite at, scouting and drafting players.

After the draft if I was Crane.

Crane will most likely fire him after the season. Hopefully Dana does as well as Wade did with trades as he was exiting stage left.
